DUHE
MT. AIRY – Wilfred Lannie Duhe, 67, a native and resident of Mt. Airy, died Aug. 17. He was the husband of Jacqueline Duhe and father of Damian Duhe, Janine Daniels and Mia Merrell.
He was the son of the late Beasley and Irma Duhe and brother of Irene Robinson and Percy and Leo Billy Duhe.
He is also survived by two grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Southern University, taught at Second Ward High School and served as principal at Lucy Elementary. He was also owner of Duhe IGA Food store, worked as an operator at Kaiser Chemical and served as a private in the U.S. Army.
Services were Aug. 22 at St. Mark Baptist Church with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.
GRANIER
VACHERIE – Ervin L. Granier Sr., 96, a native of Wallace and resident of Edgard for 37 years, died Aug. 20. He was the husband of Eunice Waguespack Granier and father of Jill Spence, Sue Gandy, Ervin Jr. and James Granier and the late Donnie Clapp.
He was the son of the late Emile Granier and Blanch Tregre Granier Abadie; brother of the late Ethel Matherne; and half-brother of the late Symore and Armand Abadie.
He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was a coach and teacher at Julius Freyhan High School in St. Francisville from 1927 to 1934, assistant principal of Edgard High School from 1934 to 1944 and principal at Leon Godchaux High School in Reserve from 1944 until his retirement in 1972.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Phillip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
HARRIS
ST. JAMES – Frank Harris, 50, a native and resident of St. James, died Aug. 21. He was the son of Viola Harris and the late Daniel Harris Sr. and brother of Ethel Mae Keller, Daniel and Arthur Harris and the late Rosa Keller and Raymond, Louis and David Harris.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
HILL
BOUTTE – Melvin Wesley Hill Jr., 44, a native of Boutte and resident of Fernandina Beach, Fla., for 19 years, died Aug. 17. He was the husband of Rosemary McCutchen Hill and father of Roger Ferguson.
He was the son of Delores Hill Pollard and the late Melvin Hill Sr.; stepson of James Pollard; brother of Christine, Dennis, Dean and the late Bridgett Hill; and stepbrother of Jane Kennedy, Elizabeth Drones, Stephanie Neal and Broderick, James and Ernest Pollard.
He is also survived by two grandchildren.
He was an irrigation farmer with The Gulf Club of Amelia Island in Jacksonville, Fla.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Boutte, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
MILLMAN
METAIRIE – Hildred J. Millman, 78, a native of Huntington, Ind., and resident of Destrehan for five years, died Aug. 20. She was the wife of the late Burl Millman and mother of Shelby Jennings, Holly Fitch and Tim Millman.
She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Stella Schamp Lamb and sister of Anna Yarger, Eloise Carroll, Aileen Small, Marguarette Wilcox and the late Russell Lamb.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are today at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church of Greater New Orleans, Metairie.
MITCHELL
LAPLACE – Joseph Mitchell Jr., 76, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 14. He was the husband of Julia Green Mitchell and stepfather of Bessie Mae Brown, Marion Perrilloux, Gloria Mitchell and Raymond, Harold and Clarence Breaux.
He was the brother of Wilfred Mitchell Sr.
He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a veteran of World War II and a retired porter for Avis Rent-a-Car.
Services were Aug. 22 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, LaPlace, with interment at Providence Memorial Resthaven Cemetery.
SANDERS
LAPLACE – Herbert John Sanders, 64, a resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 20. He was the son of Asleana Sanders. He is also survived by nine children, four brothers, five sisters and a host of grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Milesville Memorial Church of God in Christ, LaPlace.
SAVOIE
EDGARD – Ethel Mae Samuel Savoie, 78, a native and resident of Edgard, died Aug. 21. She was the wife of the late McKinley Savoie Sr. and mother of Sharon Joseph, Roxanne Barre and Karl, Kevin, McKinley Jr. and the late Stephanie Savoie.
She was the daughter of the late Norman and Estelle Samuel and sister of Anita Morris, Eula Johnson, Margaret Lumar, Julia Joseph, Lena Pollard, Riley, Henry, Ronald and Norman Samuel Jr. and the late Corinne Lumar and Eunice Smith.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
Ssrvicews are today at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
SIMONEAUX
VACHERIE – Diane Dumas Simoneaux, 54, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Aug. 19. She was the mother of Ron Dumas.
She was the daughter of the late Joshua Sr. and Mary Dumas and sister of Eliven Phillips, Julia and Mabel Bailey and Eugene, Simon, Joshua, Dennis, Joseph and the late Albert Dumas.
She is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
THORNTON
GRETNA – Henry Thornton, 78, a native of Vacherie and resident of Gretna, died Aug. 20. He was the husband of the late Edna Mae Thornton; father of Sheila Lee, Darnella Lambert, Peggy Baptiste and Keith Thornton; and stepfather of the late Carl Higgins.
He was the son of the late Albert Thornton and Lubertha Roberson and brother of Shirley Leonard and the late Mary Keiffer, Ceola Porter and Alfred Thornton.
He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 9 a.m. at Thompson Temple Church of God in Christ, Gretna, with interment at McDonoughville Cemetery, Gretna. Visitation begins at 8 a.m.
TROXCLAIR
DESTREHAN – Irma Cecile St. Pe’ Troxclair, 88, a native of Taft and resident of New Sarpy, died Aug. 20. She was the wife of the late Simon Troxclair and mother of Joyce Marino, Linda Vicknair and Robert and James Troxclair
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Irma Nicholas St. Pe’. She was preceded in death by nine brothers.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Services were Aug. 23 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum.
WILSON
KENNER – Huey Delonde “Loney” Wilson, a native of Norco and resident of St. Rose, died Aug. 20. He was the husband of Ethel White-Wilson.
He was the son of Willie Wilson Jr. and the late Elnora Wilson and brother of Pennie Evans and Wendell, Quintin, Antoinette and the late Aaron and Willie Wilson.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at House of Prayer Fellowship, Kenner, with interment at Montz Cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
