DUHE
GRAMERCY – Richard J. Duhe Sr., 76, a native of Lutcher and resident of Gramercy, died July 10. He was the husband of 53 years of Barbara Arceneaux Duhe and father of Sibyl Laiche, Julie Cockburn and Richard Jr., Robert, John, Stephen, Michael and Malcolm Duhe.
He was the son of the late Tristan and Martha Frederick Duhe and brother of Rosemary Matherne, Elise Blankenship, Janice Cox, Rita Veron, Maurice Duhe and the late Marguerite Barrios, Mazie Martin and Robert, Larry and Thomas Duhe.
He is also survived by 18 grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Services are today at at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
JARROW
NEW ORLEANS – Peter J. Jarrow, 72, a native of Edgard and resident of New Orleans for many years, died July 6. He was the father of Joseph LeBlanc and Julia, Anthony and Eugene Jarrow.
He was the brother of Fabolia Sutton, Cecile Bailey, Thelma Lumar, Eloise Farnell, John Gilbert and Hubert Jarrow.
He is also survived by 18 grandchildren.
He was a retired custodian for the Orleans Parish School Board, working at Priestly Junior High School for more than 30 years.
Services are today at 9 a.m. in the chapel of Estelle J. Wilson Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at Carrollton Cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
JOHNSON
HARVEY – Phelomena Anderson Johnson, 85, a native of St. James Parish and resident of Harvey for 75 years, died July 4. She was the wife of the late Isaac Johnson Sr. and mother of the Rev. Harold Clark and Isaac Johnson Jr.
She was the daughter of the late Paul and Nancy Martin Anderson and sister of Martha Anderson-Guillory.
She is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were July 11 at Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church, Harvey, with interment at the church cemetery.
LONDON
MARRERO – Mercidies Bellock “Mamee” London, 68, a native of St. James Parish and resident of Harvey, died July 8. She was the wife of the late Melvin London Sr. and mother of Melva, Valencia, Lacretia, Melvin Jr., Ivory, Malcolm and Arnold London.
She was the daughter of the late Edward and Clara Bellock and sister of Rita Hampton and the late Roy Bellock Sr.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was a retired counselor at Hope Haven Center.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Davis Mortuary Service, Marrero, with interment at Evening Star Baptist Cemetery, Harvey. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
MELANCON
NEW ORLEANS – Anna Alice Melancon, 92, a native of St. James Parish and resident of New Orleans for 75 years, died July 7. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Melancon and mother of Orelia “Bernice” McGinnis, Ethel and Daniel Melancon and the late Dora Henderson.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were July 12 in the chapel of Boissiere-Labat Family Funeral Services, New Orleans, with interment at Providence Memorial Park.
SMITH
ST. JAMES – Lena Mae Ferchaud Smith, 70, a native of St. James and resident of New Orleans, died July 8. She was the wife of the late Stafford Smith Sr. and mother of Janet Williams, Sheila Preyan and Stafford Smith Jr.
She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Ferchaud and sister of Authimese Bell, Ora Lee Baker, Elsie Mae Batiste and Vera Zeno.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were July 12 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery.
SONGY
VACHERIE – Betty Ann Songy, 56, a native of Edgard and resident of Wallace, died July 8. She was the mother of Terry Benton and the late Roderick Mitchell.
She was the daughter of Victoria Songy and the late Prudent Songy and sister of Nelson Jordan, Leslie Scriven and Troy, Trent and the late Danny Griffin.
She is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at New Jerusalem Baptist Cemetery, Edgard. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
WILLIAMS
NEW ORLEANS – Vera Williams, 68, a native of Convent and resident of New Orleans, died July 8. She was the wife of the late Ruben Williams and mother of Lillian Alexander, James Thomas and Leroy and the late Gregory and Rochelle Williams.
She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Carrie Johnson and sister of Helen Anderson, Rose Johnson, Millie Singleton, Catherine Doyle, Herman Johnson and the late Carrie Bell and Pernella, Larry and Roy Johnson.
She is also survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at First House of Prayer Baptist Church, New Orleans, with interment at Pilgrim Baptist Cemetery, Convent. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
