CAMBRE

LAPLACE – Prudent B. Cambre, 92, a native of LaPlace and resident of Bryan, Texas, died May 4. He was the husband of 66 years of Dorothy Wilson Cambre.

He was the son of the late Raoul and Eva Dufresne Cambre and brother of the late Ruth, Etienne, Guy, Abdon, Edward and Alvin Cambre.

He is survived by four nieces and three nephews.

Services are today at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m.

EDWARDS

WALLACE – Erroll Gene “Geno” Edwards, 51, a native of Killona and resident of Chicago, died April 28. He was the son of the late Pierre Sr. and Audrey Gaudet Scott and brother of Gaynell, Shawn, Lisa, Kenneth, Pierre Jr., Tyronne, Danna and the late Dale and Stacey Edwards.

Services were May 6 at Greater Woodville Baptist Church, Wallace, with interment at the church cemetery.

HATCHER

MARRERO – Enola Bye Hatcher, 93, a native of Des Allemands and resident of Westwego for the past 88 years, died May 5.

She was the wife of the late Lynn H. Hatcher and mother of Laura Feehan, Faith Hooter and the late Jerry Hatcher.

She was the daughter of the late Louise Savoie and Leo Bye.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery.

HOOTER

HOUMA – Rena Savoie Hooter, 85, a native of Des Allemands and resident of Westwego for many years, died May 3. She was the wife of Jacob Hooter and mother of Patricia Thornton and Walton and Shelby Hooter.

She was the sister of Hazel Combs and Nelson and Richard Savoie.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were May 6 in the chapel of Samart Funeral Home, Houma, with interment at Matherne Cemetery.

KLIEBERT

LAPLACE – Betty “Lois” Kliebert, 68, a native of Morgan City and resident of LaPlace for the past 25 years, died April 26. She was the wife of the late Eno Kliebert Sr. and mother of Debra LeBlanc, Denise Pitre, Joann Stevenson and Suzanne, Lena, Eno Jr., Kevin, Edwin and the late Diane Kliebert.

She was the sister of Maggie Boudreaux and Charles, Cyril and Herbert Billiot.

She is also survived by 29 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were May 3 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

MEYI

NEW ORLEANS – Claudia Manade Meyi, 89, a native of Lutcher and resident of New Orleans for 85 years, died May 2.

She was the wife of Louis Meyi Sr. and mother of Louis Meyi Jr.

She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Dora Norman Manade and sister of Evelyn Roudeze and the late Irma Rousseve and Vivian Manade.

She is also survived by two grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Xavier Preparatory High School and Xavier University, where she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She taught at Sylvania Williams and J.W. Hoffman elementary schools.

Services were May 6 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, New Orleans, with interment at St. Vincent de Paul No. 2 Cemetery.
