GARYVILLE – A man allegedly shot his uncle Saturday during a dispute over repairs to a mobile home the pair shared in Garyville.

Feron Bolden, 29, of 335 Earl Baloney Drive, was charged with attempted second-degree murder. His uncle, Hobson Bolden, 41, was hospitalized at River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace with wounds in his upper right arm and the right side of his back.

Capt. Michael Tregre said the pair had an earlier argument regarding repairs to the floor of the trailer. The original argument took place at a nearby park, and the nephew departed.

Later, the suspect pulled up at the residence, and his uncle came out, whereupon the argument started up again. Tregre said at this point, the nephew pulled a gun and started shooting.

As the victim attempted to flee, he was struck in the arm and back, but made it to a neighbor’s home.

There, the neighbor called the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, and took the uncle to River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived in the neighborhood, the suspect returned and attempted to explain his side of the dispute, but was instead taken into custody, Tregre said.

Bond for Bolden was set at $125,000 by 40th Judicial District Judge J. Sterling Snowdy.
