BABIN
NEW ORLEANS – Keith Michael Babin, 41, a native of Paulina and resident of Arabi for 22 years, died March 17. He was the companion of A.J. Cousin.
He was the son of Louis Sr. and Lucille Martin Babin and brother of Connie Chapman, Gail St. Pierre, Joan Lambert and Edward, Chris and Louis Babin Jr.
He was a registered pharmacist manager of Rite Aid in Arabi.
Services are today at noon at St. Maurice Catholic Church, New Orleans, with interment at St. Vincent de Paul No. 3 Cemetery. Visitation starts at 10:30 a.m.
COOK
RESERVE – Monica M. Cook, 27, a native and resident of Reserve, died March 14. She was the daughter of Daniel and Lisa Fuller Cook and sister of Brian Sr. and Anthony Cook.
She was the granddaughter of Katherine Cook.
Services were March 19 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
HICKMAN
NEW ORLEANS – Lovina Warren Lewis Hickman, 78, a native of LaPlace and longtime resident of New Orleans, died March 12. She was the mother of Lydia Condoll, Janice Magraff and Collins and Kenneth Lewis Sr. and stepmother of Rita and Robert Hickman Jr.
She was the sister of Aldonia Francois.
She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was a former employee of Smith’s Antique Shop.
Services were March 19 at Law Street Missionary Baptist Church, New Orleans, with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, New Orleans.
JOHNSON
GRAMERCY – Oscar Louis Johnson Sr., 65, a native and resident of Gramercy, died March 13. He was the husband of Doloris “Lottie” Johnson and father of Cynthia DeRousselle, Janet McKinley, Charlene Parker, Patricia Morris and Oscar Jr. and Christopher Johnson.
He was the son of Felicia Johnson and the late Edward Johnson Sr. and brother of Viola Bujoile and Frank Sr. and Elton Johnson.
He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was a forklift operator.
Services were March 18 at New Zion Full Gospel Baptist Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Paulina.
LOUIS
EDGARD – Elbertha Shephard Louis, 88, a native and resident of Edgard, died March 11. She was the wife of the late Raymond J. Louis and mother of Virtreater Bailey, Erlene Edwards, Beulah Schesser and Norman and the late Raymond Louis.
She was the daughter of the late Victor and Loretta Shephard and sister of Robert, Victor and Alvin Shephard and the late Lucille Thompson and Loretta Shephard.
She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services were March 19 at Second African Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at Young Cemetery, Edgard.
LOUSTEAU
GRAMERCY – Cherry Gondolfo Lousteau, 50, a native of New Orleans and resident of Lutcher, died March 14. She was the wife of 30 years of Onell Lousteau Jr. and mother of Scotty and Ryan Lousteau.
She was the daughter of Sam and Josephine Calcagno Gondolfo and sister of Joycelyn Jeansonne and the late Gwendolyn Gondolfo.
She was a eucharist minister at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Gramercy, a substitute teacher at Chanel School, taught eighth-grade religion at Sacred Heart for 10 years and was a Cub Scout leader.
Services were March 18 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Catholic Mausoleum, Paulina.
PIERRE
NEW ORLEANS – Marie Pearl Trepagnier Pierre, 81, a native of St. James Parish and resident of New Orleans for 55 years, died March 11. She was the sister of Iola Brooks, Celeste Perrilloux and Alvis Winchester.
Services were March 16 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, New Orleans, with interment at St. James Cemetery.
TASSIN
LULING – Elson “Pim” Tassin Sr., 84, a resident of Luling, died March 15. He was the husband of Alcida Foret Tassin and father of Elson Jr. And Bryant Tassin.
He was the son of the late Septime and Alida Cortez Tassin and brother of Herbert “Red” and the late Vernice Causin, Eunice Champagne, Delia Troxler and Shirley “Black” and Irvin “Bald Eagle” Tassin.
He is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was the former owner and operator of Pim’s Phillips 66 in Luling.
Services were March 18 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Luling, with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.
WOODIEL
LULING – John W. Woodiel Jr., 76, a native of Enola, Ark., and resident of Luling, died March 15.
He was the husband of Dorothy Breyel Woodiel and father of Deborah Spencer, John III and Christopher Woodiel.
He was the son of the late John Sr. And Ruby Davis Woodiel and brother of Syble Sims, Betty Mundt and the late Freddie Woodiel.
He is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II’s Pacific Theatre, serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. He was employed by Lion Oil/Monsanto for 21 years and retired from Woodiel Construction, which he founded in 1973.
He was a Republican Party activist and founded the St. Charles Parish Republican Party in 1965, serving five terms on the Republican State Central Committee.
He was also a member of the Lafourche Basin Levee Commission from 1980 to 1984.
Services were March 19 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Luling, with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.
