CANNON
HAHNVILLE – Caesar “Buck Black” Cannon Jr., 86, a native and resident of Killona, died Oct. 14. He was the husband of Angie Cannon and father of Evelina Weber, Annie Pearl Lockett, Ceola Lumar, Patricia Franklin, Elaine Hardy, Cassandra Bossier and Edward, Caesar III, Abbie, Patrick, Delores and Ronnie Cannon.
He was also the son of the late Rev. Caesar Sr. and Lorenza Thompson Cannon and brother of the late Geneva Cox, Fannie Keller, Lucille Roberts and Velma, Willis and Savior Cannon Sr.
He is also survived by 40 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Robottom Mortuary, Hahnville, with interment at Mt. Airy Memorial Park, Boutte. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
CHAMPAGNE
LULING – Louise Cazenave Champagne, 79, a native of Vacherie and resident of Luling, died Oct. 16. She was the wife of the late James Wallace Champagne and mother of Anita Hymel.
She was also the daughter of the late Etienne and Elena Hymel Cazenave and sister of Juliette Waguespack, Laurence Tregre, E.V. Cazenave Jr. and the late Marie Chabaud and Roland “Bud” Cazenave.
She is also survived by three grandchildren.
Services were Oct. 18 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Luling, with interment at St. Charles Mausoleum, Luling.
CULBRETH
NEW ORLEANS – Ruby Joseph Culbreth, 87, a native of St. James Parish and resident of New Orleans, died Oct. 12. She was the wife of Michael Culbreth Sr. and mother of Constance and Michael Culbreth Jr.
She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were Oct. 19 at Payne Memorial AME Church, New Orleans, with interment at Lake Lawn Park.
DAVIS
HAHNVILLE – Lloyd Quincy Davis, 78, a native and resident of Hahnville, died Oct. 11. He was the father of Lenore Davis.
He was also the brother of Beatrice and Floyd Davis.
Services were Oct. 15 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Hahnville, with interment at the church cemetery.
FERDINAND
LUTCHER – Cecelia Lockett “Miss Pete” Ferdinand, 90, a native of Paulina and resident of Marrero, died Oct. 13. She was the wife of the late Rev. Joshua Ferdinand and mother of Carrie Lewis.
She was also the daughter of the late Henry Sr. and Victoria Thomas Lockett and sister of the late Fannie and Henry Lockett Jr.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Oct. 19 at King Triumph Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina.
GRAY
LAPLACE – Warren “Bubbie” Gray, 46, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Oct. 12. He was the husband of Pamela Small Gray, father of Mary Ann Gray and stepfather of Roneika Small and Ronnie and Rondrenee Turner.
He was also the son of the late Clement and Irma Charles Gray and brother of Peggy Creecy, Debra Bourgeois, Clement Gray and the late JoAnn Gray and Melvin Charles.
He is also survived by four grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at New Wine Christian Fellowship Church, LaPlace, with interment at Providence Resthaven Cemetery, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
HAMILTON
LAPLACE – Willie “Mack” Hamilton Sr., 83, a native of Killona and resident of LaPlace, died Oct. 13. He was the father of Ella Jones, Brenda McKinney and Michael, Charles, Patricia and the late Willie Jr. and Junius “Bogey” Hamilton.
He was also the son of the late Mack and Frances Washington Hamilton and brother of Mary Hamilton.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Rescue Mission Baptist Church, LaPlace, with interment at Providence Resthaven Cemetery, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
HYMEL
SOUTH VACHERIE – Roland Martin “Johnny” Hymel Sr., 89, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Oct. 16. He was the husband of Inez Webre Hymel and father of Jerelyn Infante and Roland Jr., Carroll and Leslie Hymel.
He was also the son of the late Valsin and Aurelie Abadie Hymel and brother of the late Elvina Hotard and Celima, Dervina, Elise, Hilda, Eula, George, Jules and Francis Hymel Sr.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a former manager of Vacherie Wholesale.
Services were Oct. 19 at St. Philip Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Edgard.
LeBLANC
LULING – Janet Spiers LeBlanc, 43, a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Luling, died Oct. 14. She was the mother of Brian LeBlanc.
She was also the daughter of Jack and Fran Spiers and sister of Celeste Yanes.
She was a curriculum specialist with the St. Charles Parish public school district.
Memorial services were Oct. 17 at Luling United Methodist Church, with funeral services Oct. 19 in the chapel of McDonald Funeral Home, Picayune, Miss., and interment at McNeill Cemetery, McNeill, Miss.
PERRY
HAHNVILLE – Oliska Francois Perry, 87, a resident of Killona, died Oct. 12. She was the wife of David Perry Sr. and mother of Joyce Raymond, Glenden, David Jr. and Stanley Perry Sr. and the late Yvonne Wheeler and Audrey Mae Mitchell.
She was also the daughter of the late Madeline McCarthy and Omier Francois and sister of the late Bernice Davis.
She is also survived by 35 grandchildren and 67 great-grandchildren.
Services were Oct. 19 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hahnville, with interment at the church cemetery, Taft.
RIXNER
LUTCHER – Hayward “Spud” Rixner, a resident of Mt. Airy, died Oct. 16. He was the husband of Mary Emma Rixner and father of Barbara Jean Rixner amd 14 stepdaughters and stepsons.
He was also the brother of Helen Burl, Godfrey Sr., Julius and Cornelius Rixner Sr. and the late Aldonia Watson, Albertine Spears, Constane Scott, Ethel Bardell, Dorothy Esko, Inez Rixner, Jack Nicholas and Lloyd Rixner.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Lutcher United Methodist Church, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions. Visitation starts at 9:30 a.m.
TERRY
CONVENT – Mary Milton “Mae Mae” Terry, 75, a native of Brusly and resident of Convent, died Oct. 15. She was the wife of the late Cleveland Terry. She is also survived by Marva Dean Roberts, Melissa and Jaron Milton, Linda and Joyce Jones, Arlyn Taylor, Clover Lucas and Rosalee, Kerry, Gail and Lunzy Scott, all whom she reared.
She was also the daughter of the late James Sr. and Louvenia LeBlanc Milton and sister of Joseph Milton Sr. and the late Frances Shorty and Moriah, Martha, James and Frank Milton.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church, Convent, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
WAGUESPACK
SOUTH VACHERIE – George H. Waguespack Sr., 75, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Oct. 17.
He was the husband of Shirley W. Waguespack and father of Shirley Granier and George Jr., Carroll, Glenn, Barry, Partrick and Randal Waguespack.
He was also the son of the late Adam Sr. and Myrthee Simon Waguespack and brother of Donald, Adam, Lloyd, Lester and Clifford Waguespack.
He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
WEATHERSPOON
METAIRIE – Freddie Lee Weatherspoon, 63, a native of Magnolia, Miss., and resident of LaPlace, died Oct. 15.
He was the husband of 42 years of Annie B. Weatherspoon and father of Linda Parker, Lora Dozier and Lionel Weatherspoon.
He was the brother of five brothers and two sisters and is survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Vietnam Conflict veteran.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Second New Guide Missionary Baptist Church, Metairie, with interment at Providence Resthaven Park Cemetery, LaPlace.
WILLIAMS
EDGARD – Leontine Williams, a native of Edgard and resident of New Orleans and Gulfport, Miss., died Oct. 10.
She was the wife of the late Lawrence Williams; companion of the late Clint Evans Sr.; mother of Patricia Jones, Larry Williams, Clint Evans Jr. and the late Archie Williams; and stepmother of Mary Evans.
She was also the daughter of the late Joseph and Emily Pierre and sister of Leona Gauthier, Theresa Pierce and the late Evelina Young and Lorenza, Joseph and Edward Pierre.
She is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services are today at noon at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
WOODS
GRETNA – Josephine Baptiste Debiew Woods, 89, a native of St. James Parish and resident of Gretna, died Oct. 15.
She was the wife of the late Clarence Debiew, by first marriage, and of Benjamin Woods, by second marriage, and mother of Ed Debiew.
She was also the sister of Tia “Gladys” Torregano.
She is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church, Gretna, with interment at Christian Social Cemetery, Gretna. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
