BEAUVAIS
VENICE – Newton Edwin “Jup” Beauvais Jr., 78, a native of Lucy and resident of Plaquemines Parish for 58 years, died June 14. He was the the husband of Dolores Compeaux Beauvais and father of Susan Loga, Elizabeth Rigsby, Ann Luther, Bonnie Deck and Newton III, Victor, Mark, Christopher, Patrick, Joseph and the late Robin Beauvais.He was also the son of the late Newton Sr. and Mathilde Martin Beauvais and brother of Norma Gogreva, Robert and Garland Beauvais and the late Claire Adams.He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.He was a veteran of World War II.Services were June 18 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Venice, with interment at Our Lady of Good Harbor Cemetery.EVANS
DESTREHAN – Ethel G. Armstrong Evans, 84, a native of New Orleans and resident of Destrehan for 40 years, died June 17. She was the wife of the late Keller Evans and mother of Linda Oubre and Raymond Evans.She was also the daughter of the late Giorgianna Black and Joseph Armstrong and sister of the late Irene Winkler and Raymond and Cleveland Armstrong.She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.Uraveside services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Graveside Cemetery, Destrehan.GREEN
BURTON – Victoria Grant Green, 89, a native of St. James Parish and resident of New Orleans, died June 12. She was the mother of the late Gloria Dean and Robert Barnes.She was also the daughter of the late Adam and Rose Mayo Grant and sister of Bessie G. LAPLACE – Erick J. “Boo” Lightel Sr., 54, a native of New Orleans and lifelong resident of LaPlace, died June 17. He was the husband of Justilla Ponville Lightel and father of JoJo and the late Erick Lightel Jr.Services are today at noon in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace. LULING – Staples J. “Mac” McClendon, 90, a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Luling for 40 years, died June 15. He was the husband of Lucille D. McClendon and father of Carol Prevost, Ronnie Landry and Michael and the late Staples McClendon Jr.He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.He was a retired real estate appraiser, graduate of Louisiana State University, past president of the St. Charles Cattlemens Association, co-founder and past president of the Luling Lions Club, co-founder and past president of the Saints Board of Realtors and member of the St. Charles Rotary Club.services were June 18 at First Union Presbyterian Church, Luling, with interment at St. Charles Mausoleum, Luling.PERKINS
GRAMERCY – Johnny Perkins Jr., a native and resident of Lutcher, died June 14. He was the husband of Beatrice Weber Perkins and father of Johnnie Mae Armont, Beatrice Mitchell, Alice Johnson and Jerry Sr. and George Perkins Sr.He was also the son of the late Johnny Sr. and Sophia Lorio Perkins and brother of the late Thelma, Fred Sr. and Victor Perkins Sr.He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.Services were June 18 at New Zion Full Gospel Baptist Church, Gramercy, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina.SCHEXNAYDER

She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Noela Frederic Schexnayder and sister of Margery Groteguth, Dolores Massan, Marilyn Staley, Phyllis Englade, Mary Scallon, Gloria, Elwood and J. DESTREHAN – Florette “Flo” S. Bernard Trabeaux, 79, a native of Gramercy and resident of Destrehan, died June 17. She was the husband by first marriage of the late Willie Bernard and mother of Ronnie and the late Billy Bernard.She was also the daughter of the late Ancient and Inez Millet Schexnayder and sister of Etta St. Martin.She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 466, St. Rose.Services were June 19 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church cemetery.
