ABBATE
LUTCHER – Brad Paul Abbate Jr., 5 months, a native and resident of Garyville, died June 7. He was the son of Brad Sr. and Marquita Belle Abbate.He was also the maternal grandchild of Isaac Lee and Teatrice Belle of Reserve and paternal grandchild of Peter and Connie Louque Abbate of Garyville.Services were June 9 in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Lutcher, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan.LAURENT
RESERVE – Ewell J. Laurent, 74, a native of Vacherie and resident of Reserve for 53 years, died June 11. He was the husband of Lorrie Montz Laurent and father of Kevin and Duane Laurent.He was also the son of Elvira Breaud and the late Robley Laurent Sr. and brother of Robley Jr., Kermit and Lewis Laurent.He is also survived by three grandchildren.Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery. NEW ORLEANS – Mary M. “Neal” Price, 94, a native of Montz and longtime resident of New Orleans, died June 7. She was the mother of Cleaster Jones and Elliott Neal.She was also the daughter of the late Effrim and Martha Malone.She is also survived by four grandchildren and one step-grandchild.Services were June 12 at Gloryland Mt. Gillion Baptist Church, New Orleans, with interment at Destrehan Cemetery.SCRUGGS
METAIRIE – Sandra Ann Knowles Scruggs, 31, a native of New Orleans, resident of Kenner for 30 years and resident of LaPlace for several months, died June 8. She was the wife of Michael Scruggs and mother of Teddi Lynn Knowles.She was also the daughter of David Knowles and Cherlyn Hurst and sister of Sharon Meyers, Toni Gillaspie and Faith and David Knowles.Services are today at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, Metairie, with private interment.TERRIO
DESTREHAN – Mary Elizabeth Terrio, a native of French Settlement, former resident of Destrehan and resident of LaPlace, died June 11. She was the wife of the late Edward Nary Terrio and mother of Myrtle Luminais, Mary Ann Fernandez and the late Edward Terrio.She was also the daughter of the late Judith Landry and Joseph Montaldo and sister of the late Martha Weaver, Estelle Louque, Josephine Babin, Louise Clements and Loris, Fred, John and Joseph Montaldo.She is survived by 12 grandchilden and a host of great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.Services are today at 9 a.m. in the chapel of Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
