Debbie’s Dance student recognized for competition wins, scholarships

Debbie’s Dance Academy student Sara Brignac, daughter of Rose and Shorty Brignac of St. Rose, has recently accomplished many competition wins and dance scholarships. She traveled to New York City in September by request of the casting director to try out for the part of Shirley Temple, a made for Disney movie. In October, she traveled to Houston and attended the LA Dance Magic convention and was a LA Dance Magic year-long scholarship winner. She also received a year-long scholarship at the West Coast Dance Explosion convention held in Biloxi, Miss. At the Kid’s Artistic Revue competition, held in New Orleans in January, she received gold first place for her tap solo and lyrical solo. She received second place overall in the junior category for her tap solo and she was also chosen for the KAR Kids New York City tour award. At the Stage One dance competition, held in New Orleans in March, Brignac won gold first place for her tap solo and lyrical solo. In the junior category, she won first place overall for her tap solo and was chosen for the Star award. At the LA Dance Magic convention held in Biloxi, Miss., Brignac was chosen for the LA Studio award for her outstanding performance. She is now entitled to two weeks of unlimited classes at the Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles. At the New York City Dance Alliance Convention she was awarded a tap scholarship award.
