St. John the Baptist Parish Council on Aging general membership meeting is at 2 p.m. at the St. John Parish Senior Citizen Center, 1805 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace. Free art classes for St. Charles Parish senior citizens, age 60 and up, are from noon to 3 p.m. at the New Sarpy Senior Citizen Center. The class is taught by local artist and member of the Le Petit Art Guild Edie Corso. Supplies are furnished by St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation Department. St. Peter School spring festival
takes place on the school grounds. Rides, food, games, raffles, pageants and the annual sauce piquant cook-off will be featured. Pay-one-price ride bracelets will be available for $17 at the gate or may be purchased in advance through the school for $12 per session or $30 for the weekend. T-shirt orders will also be taken at the school. After 5 p.m., live entertainment will include Seabrook, on Friday; No Idea, on Saturday; and Bennie and the Bayou Boys, on Sunday.
