RESERVE – Authorities believe all suspects in the January robbery of Cox’s Meat Market have finally been caught. A 16-year-old was arrested Wednesday night after St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff’s deputies caught him trying to leave town. The suspect, whose name has not been released because of his age, had already purchased a bus ticket to Long Beach, Calif., and was waiting for his ride out of town when deputies caught up with him, Capt. Mike Tregre of the St. John Sheriff’s Office said. An ongoing investigation led to several arrests in the robbery, and deputies had maintained constant surveillance of the juvenile’s family. Officers followed the family to the bus station Wednesday evening. Tregre said the suspect’s family had been warned early on the teen-ager was being sought and they should not assist him. According to Tregre, the warning to the family was documented. The suspect’s brother, sister and neighbor were dropping him off at the bus station when officers arrived. His sister Kristy Weber, 22, and brother, Donald Weber, 19, both of 160 E. 13th St. in Reserve, were arrested for harboring a fugitive. Amelia Keller, 40, 253 E. 13th St., Reserve, drove the vehicle the three were riding in. She was also arrested. The juvenile has been charged with criminal conspiracy to plan a robbery and armed robbery. He is being held at the Sherman R. Walker Correctional Center. Donald Weber ran when officers arrived, but after a brief chase he was caught and arrested, Tregre said. Others arrested in the case are George Joseph, Byron Porter, Joshua Grover and another juvenile. The meat market at 1162 Louisiana Highway 44 was robbed Jan. 12 at gunpoint by three men wearing bandannas. One was carrying a shotgun.. the three men stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled. Police were notified by a passerby that three men had entered the business. Later it was learned others were involved in the planning. The juvenile arrested Wednesday is believed to be the last suspect involved in the robbery. “The family made attempts to conceal him. They were warned beforehand,” he said.
