St. Peter Chanel rings in spring PAULINA – The St. Peter Chanel is holding its spring festival today and tomorrow on the school and church grounds in Paulina. Festival hours are today from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission and parking is free. Rides, games and home-cooked food will be featured. This non-alcoholic festival is designed for the entire family. Today’s festival menu includes spaghetti and meatballs, jambalaya and other fine foods. A baked chicken lunch will be served tomorrow. Order meals to go, call 869-5778. Special events planned today include performances by dancers, gymnastics, cheerleaders and martial arts groups from 2-5 p.m. and a teen dance tonight. Favorite festival events include the introduction of local queens and a woman-less beauty pageant from 6-8 p.m. today. Tomorrow’s events include breakfast with the Easter Bunny, which includes breakfast, entertainment and a photo with the Easter Bunny starting at 9:30 a.m. For tickets call 869-5778, tickets are limited. A “fun bingo” also takes place at 2 p.m. tomorrow. D.J. music will be provided by “Ultra Mix Music,” a live band will perform for the teen dance tonight and a performance by local band True Ambition is from 7-10 p.m. tonight. All teens are invited. This is a chaperoned event with soft drinks and party food available. On Sunday, the band Local Option performs from 3-6 p.m. Pay-one-price bracelets are available each day on-site. St. Charles Parish annual Rabies Vaccination Day takes place tomorrow throughout the parish. Animals should be at least 3 months old. Cost is $6. Animals should be confined on a leash or in a carrier.
