Sow God’s holy Word to reap the benefits of a godly life

I’m sure you’ve heard it said you get what you pay for. In law enforcement, the saying goes, “You do the crime, you serve the time.” According to the Bible, in Mark, Chapter 4, Jesus spoke in parables for people to easily understand and warned them they will surely reap what they sow. He tells of the sower who went out to sow. The sower first sowed his seed by the wayside, and the birds quickly ate up all the seed. He then sowed some seed on rocky ground. It immediately sprang up, but because the soil had no depth for the roots to grow, the sun quickly scorched the plants. Some fell upon good ground that still had thorns. They grew, but the thorns did also, and the thorns choked the plants, causing them to yield no fruit. The last field was good ground. This crop sprang up, increased and produced a good harvest – some 30-fold, some 60 and some 100. A great harvest for the few seeds sowed. Jesus then said, according to Mark 4:9 – “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” He explained to His disciples the seed represents the Word of God, which is truth, and the different types of soil represent how people respond to the Word. In the first group people hear the Word but are not motivated to get planted and grow. The second group hears the Word, accepts it gladly, but does not have any spiritual life, and they dry up for lack of knowledge. The third group, in my opinion, is the saddest group. They have the same conditions as the last group, but they allow the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches and the lust for other things to enter in and choke the Word. They become unfruitful. They hear the Word but become distracted. The fourth group hears and accepts the Word of God and develops strong and healthy growth. This group wins souls for God’s Kingdom, and in doing so has an exciting, productive life, seeing the fruit of God’s Word. The bottom line is that all people will reap what they sow. Keep in mind that it’s never too late for you to sow the seed (God’s Word) on good ground and see that God and only God will allow you to reap a fruitful harvest.
