BAGWELL
METAIRIE – Eva Mahan Bagwell, 93, a native of Berry, Ala., former resident of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace for 17 years, died Feb. 21. She was the wife of the late Herman J. Bagwell and mother of Wilma Cotty, Doris Delatte, Patsy Bell and Wanda and the late Sgt. Cecil Ray Bagwell. She was also the sister of the late Ethel Flynn and Maggie, Pearl, Beulah, Stella, Mack and Fred Bagwell. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren. Services are today at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at St. Bernard Memoria Gardens. Visitation starts at noon. BOUTTE
GRAMERCY – Elmere Lee Boutte, 88, native and resident of Gramercy, died Feb. 21. She was the wife of the late Odell E. Boutte and mother of Patricia Duet and Lee Ann Kliebert. She was also the daughter of the late Charles Lee Sr. and Alice Arceneaux and sister of Marie Reine, Thelma Brown, Charles Lee Jr. and the late Alice Bourgeois and James Lee Sr. She is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a teacher for 41 years in the St. James Parish School System. Services are today at noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina. LAPLACE – Bernadine J. “Bernie” Hall Brennecke, 70, a native of Kansas City, Mo., and resident of LaPlace for 22 years, died Feb. 21. She was the wife of Earl A. Brennecke and mother of Susan Landon and Robert, Carl and Larry Brennecke. She was also the daughter of the late Mack Sr. and Annabel Dick Hall and sister of Maxine Briscoe, Geraldine Richards and the late Mack Hall Jr. She is also survived by four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild. Graveside services are today at 10 a.m. at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace. CAIN
LAPLACE – Bobbie Koen Cain, 76, a native of Leesville and resident of LaPlace for five years, died Feb. 20. She was the wife of the late Eloise Cain and mother of Patsy Williams, Betty Bossier and Sharon, Linda and Clyde Cain. She was also the sister of Dorothy Figueroa and was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Services were Feb. 23 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace. DUHON
CONVENT – Liza M. Duhon, 90, a native and resident of Convent, died Feb. 21. She was the wife of the late Mitchell Duhon and mother of Audrey Johnson, Shirley Nelson, Hattie Wright, Dorastine Dilbert, Emma Lane and Joseph, Mitchell and the late Septime and Michael Duhon. She was also the daughter of the late Cornell and Lillian L. Morris and sister of the late Emma Tuckerson, Clara Cummingham, Elnora Riles, Lillie Jenkins, Hilda Flowers and Cornell, Willis, Oscar and Joseph Morris. She is also survived by 49 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Services are today at noon at Little Pilgrim Baptist Church, Convent, with interment at St. Michael Cemetery, Convent. Visitation starts at 11 a.m. FALGOUST
RESERVE – John H. Falgoust Sr., 91, a native of Vacherie and resident of Reserve for 76 years, died Feb. 22. He was the husband of Elma Terrio Falgoust and father of Joyce Lafontaine, Sharon Cassagne and John Jr., Malcolm, Ronald and the late Mary Phylis Falgoust. He was also the son of the late Louis and Sophie Falgoust and brother of Anne Hymel, Edith Hepler and the late Louis Jr., Stan and Willis Falgoust. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services were Feb. 23 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery. BOUTTE – Leona Broden Griffin, 76, a native of Welcome and resident of Boutte, died Feb. 17. She was the mother of Joyce Brown, Valerie Robertson, Patricia Johnson and Clarence Griffin Jr. She was also the sister of Florence Johnson, Ethel Mae Butler, Vidella Daggs and the Rev. Joseph Broden. Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Boutte, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m. HARRIS
ST. JAMES – Edward Harris, 47, a native of St. James and resident of Gonzales, died Feb. 21. He was the husband of Sylvia Jones Harris and father of Neshawn, Kendell, Claudell and the late Brittany Harris. He was also the son of the late Rosemary Harris Mitt, stepson of Robert Mitt and brother of Debbie Leboeuf, Shelia Clayton, Elizabeth Verrett, Linwood Harris and the late Jacqueline Harris. He is also survived by two grandchildren. Services are today at 2 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 11 a.m. JEFFERY
VACHERIE – Morris Jeffery Sr., 56, a resident of Vacherie, died Feb. 16. He was the husband of Deborah Aubert Jeffery, father of Monica, Stacey and Morris Jeffery Jr. and stepfather of Demetrise Weber, Deidre Cowan and Anthony Weber. He was also the son of Florence Steib Jeffery and the late Webster Jeffery Sr. and brother of Linda Legeaux, Mary Lois Harris and Haywood, Stanford and Webster Jeffery Jr. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren. He was a welder at Avondale Shipyard Services were Feb. 23 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum. JOSEPH
RESERVE – Carolyn Jones Joseph, 51, a native of New Orleans and resident of Reserve, died Feb. 19. She was the wife of the late Willie Joseph and mother of Stacey Jones, Tangelina Charles and Reginald Joseph. She was also the daughter of the late Wortham and Genevieve Melancon Jones and sister of Janice Hayward, Olga LeBlanc, Genevieve Caston, Dale McClain, Nella Jackson and Judy, Wortham Jr., Clyde, Paul, Wayne, Glenn, Eddie, Weldon, Timmy and the late Reginald Jones. She is also survived by three grandchildren. Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. VACHERIE – Oralee Marie Laurent Keller, 64, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Feb. 20. She was the wife of Capt. Gufielle Keller, mother of Calvin, Gwendolyn, Barbara, Mary, Vera, Patrick, Hardin and Cornell Keller and stepmother of Grace Steptore. She was also the daughter of the late Maurice and Amelia Lemieux Laurent and sister of Geraldine Smith, Shirley Steib and Elizabeth and Norris Laurent Sr. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services are today at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 7 a.m. RAYMOND
KILLONA – The Rev. Frank Raymond, 84, a native and resident of Killona, died Feb. 14. He was the husband of Leona L. Raymond. He was also the son of the late Julia Oscar and the Rev. Sylvester Raymond and brother of the late Thomas, St. Claire, Benny, Eddie and Joseph Raymond. Services are today at 11 a.m. at Greater Canaan Baptist Church, Killona, with interment at Greenhill Cemetery, Taft. Visitation starts at 8 a.m. WHITENER
DESTREHAN – Dennis Durwood Whitener, 60, a native of Paducah, Texas, and resident of Destrehan, died Feb. 22. He was the husband of Dianne Houser Whitener and father of Lavonda, Melanie, Heather and Marcus Whitener. He was also the son of the late Lela Mae Golston and John Whitener and brother of Carolyn Peak and Ray Whitener. He is also survived by four grandchildren. LIONS – Elnora “Sister See-See” Williams, 77, a resident of Reserve, died Feb. 19. She was the adopted mother of Gaynell Davis Harris, daughter of the late Vick and Bertha Williams and sister of George, James and the late Leauthur and Abner Williams. Services are today at 11 a.m. at Zion Travelers Baptist Church, Lions, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
