Reserve Christian wraps up district title

Tigers, Wildcats, Bulldogs in first place as season’s end nears

RESERVE – Reserve Christian completed a sweep of District 12-B for the first time with an 83-69 victory over Phoenix at “The Nest” Tuesday night.
This is the third straight year Reserve Christian has won the District 12-B title. The Eagles improved to 4-0 in the district and 31-13 overall. Phoenix fell to 9-14 overall and 1-2 in district.
Reserve Christian trailed at the end of the first quarter, 19-16, but closed to within 33-32 at halftime. The Eagles then took the lead at 64-56 with a 32-23 run in the third quarter.
Matt McGee led all scorers with 26 points. Frankie Francois added 19 points and Paul Labiche 16. Chris McClain and Demond Carter chipped in with 10 points apiece.

Hahnville 58, Destrehan 53

BOUTTE – Hahnville completed a sweep of cross-parish rival Destrehan with a 58-53 victory at home Tuesday night.
Hahnville (25-5 overall, 8-1 in District 7-5A) moved a game and a half ahead of Destrehan and a game up on Thibodaux. The Tigers traveled to Central Lafourche last night and host South Lafourche Tuesday before playing at East St. John Friday.
Destrehan fell to 17-12 overall and 7-3 in district.
The Wildcats took a 32-22 lead at halftime. Hahnville closed to within 45-41 at the end of the third quarter and took the lead on a Nick Cannon basket late in the fourth quarter.
Cannon finished with 12 points. Aaron Alexander led all scorers with 18 points. Laron Landry and Al Mott added eight points apiece for the Tigers.
Destrehan was led by Lionel Turner with 15 points. Mark Stewart added 14 points and Richard Jones nine.

St. James 72, St. Charles Catholic 68

LAPLACE – Henry Washington scored a game-high 26 points to lead St. James to a come-from-behind 72-68 victory at St. Charles Catholic Tuesday night.
St. James remained in a first place tie in District 9-3A with a 5-1 record and moved to 14-6 overall. The Wildcats held Senior Night against E.D. White last night and play at Lutcher Tuesday.
St. Charles Catholic dropped to 2-4 in district and 21-10 overall.
The Comets led 15-12 at the end of the first quarter and 33-20 at the break. But the Wildcats went on a 28-8 tear in the third quarter to go ahead, 48-41.
Levar Joseph helped out with 13 points for the Wildcats. Justin Aubert, Derrick Jones and Stevenson Jones each added 10 points.
Daress Nicholas led St. Charles Catholic with 17 points. Aaron Johnson contributed 15 points. Alton Alexander had 13 points and Mike Mustian 10.

Lutcher 62, E.D. White 55

THIBODAUX – Lutcher set up a first-place showdown in District 9-3A with St. James Tuesday with a 62-55 victory at E.D. White Tuesday night.
Lutcher is tied with St. James at 5-1 in the district and is 20-11 overall. E.D. White fell to 9-17 overall and 1-4 in district.
Lutcher fell behind 14-8 at the end of the first quarter but came back to take a 29-28 halftime lead.
Donnie Francois scored a game-high 26 points for the Bulldogs. Kayne Matherne added nine points and Chris Johnson and Jamie Jackson seven apiece.

South Lafourche 75, East St. John 42

GALLIANO – Michael Bourda scored a game-high 15 points to lead South Lafourche to a 75-42 victory over East St. John Tuesday night.
South Lafourche improved to 16-12 overall and 6-3 in District 7-5A. East St. John fell to 4-20 overall and 1-8 in district play.
Chris Bruce added 13 points for the Tarpons.
Darwin Pittman had 10 points to lead the Wildcats. Jarrett Hawkins and Karnacio Hamilton had six points apiece.
South Lafourche led 17-10 at the end of the first quarter and 30-17 at halftime.
