ST. JAMES – Ruth Clavey Cantrelle, 85, a native and resident of St. James, died Feb. 2. She was the wife of the late Dave Cantrelle.She was also the daughter of the late Wallace and Lelia Monconduit Calvey and sister of Leona LeBoeuf, Onita Brossett, Leila Dinvaut and Irma and the late Matthew Calvey.Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery. NORCO – George B. “Slick” Edwards Sr., 76, a native of Mississippi and resident of Batchelor, died Feb. 3. He was the husband of 56 years of Nellie Prisock Edwards and father of Brenda Galliano of Montz, Sheila Edwards of Metairie and the late George Edwards Jr.He was also the son of the late Almo and Birdie Estelle Edwards and brother of Almo Edwards Jr. and the late Janelle Warren and Carlton Edwards.He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.ne was a former superintendent with T.L. James Construction, with 33 years of service, and an avid fisherman.Services are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of H.C. NEW ORLEANS – Denise Granier Hotard, 90, a native of Vacherie and resident of Metairie, died Feb. 3. She was the wife of the late Carmelo Amore by first marriage, the late Wallace Hotard by second marriage and mother of Marie Halk, Joseph Amore, Betty Blanchard, Susan Boudoin, Cherokee and Vincent Hotard and the late Anna Lumbas, Victorin Hotard and Paul Amore.She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren.Services were Feb. 6 in the chapel of Lamana-Panno-Fallo Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery, New Orleans. MAUDUIT
KENNER – Rene Mauduit, 17, a native and resident of Norco, died Feb. 2. She was the daughter of Dale and Janice Weber Mauduit and sister of Aimee Buteaux and Doug Mauduit.She was also the granddaughter of Rita Weber, Lydia Mauduit and the late Augistin “Git” Weber and Louis Mauduit.She was a senior at Destrehan High School.Services were Feb. 6 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Kenner, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan. HARVEY – Lelia “Lil” Duhe Miller, 72, a native of Hahnville and resident of Marrero, died Feb. 4. She was the mother of Raynelle Hoots and Al Miller.She was also the daughter of the late Clarence Duhe and Cecile Dufresne Landry and sister of Helen Parks and Manuel and Whitney Duhe.She is also survived by two grandchildren.Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Harvey, with interment at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery, Westwego. LULING – Sidney J. Montet Sr., 95, a resident of Boutte, died Feb. 2. He was the husband of the late Floride Montet and father of Betty Albert, Lois Smith and Wilton, Carl and the late Sidney Montet Jr.He was also the son of the late Clerville and Odillia Pennison Montet and brother of the late Thomas and Luke Montet.He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.He was a retired barber.Services were Feb. 5 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Luling, with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling. He was the husband of the late Marie Haydel Smith and father of Maridel Scallan, Judy Miller, Aline Favor and George Smith Jr.He was also the son of the late Ruby Robinson and Henry Smith Sr. and brother of the late Marie Wallace, Aline McGann and Regina, Otis and Henry Smith Jr.He is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.Services were Feb. 6 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan. EDGARD – Alzeria Valentine Jr., 66, a native of Edgard and resident of New Orleans, died Feb. 3. He was the husband of Cenovia Johnson Valentine and father of Sandra James, Carla Cyprien and Ricky and Glenn Valentine.He was also the son of the late Alzeria and Albertha Valentine and brother of Shirley Coleman, Dorothy Milton and Juanita, Shelton, Jacob, George and the late Augurfur Valentine.He is also survived by eight grandchildren.Services are today at 11 a.m. at Greater New St. Peter Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at Young Cemetery, Edgard.
