LULING – A drug buy gone bad resulted in the attempted murder of a 21-year-old man from Chauvin and the arrest of three suspects in Luling on Jan. 22. All three suspects are charged with attempted murder. The victim, along with two other men, a 20-year-old from Paradis and a 19-year-old from Chauvin, went to Colson Mackey’s residence at 321 Post Drive at about 11 p.m., according to Lt. Dwayne LaGrange of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. At Mackey’s home were two other men. A dispute broke out, and two of the new arrivals escaped. The victim was caught, beaten severely, kicked and stabbed over the heart, LaGrange said. The victim managed to escape, made his way to a neighbor and called police. Deputies arriving in response minutes later located Mackey, 18, along with Brian Roeder, 18, of 206 Post Drive, and Jacques Daigle, 18, of 328 Post Drive. All were taken into custody without resistance, LaGrange said. LaGrange reported that the three men, including the victim, arrived at Mackey’s house with the intention of stealing three ounces of marijuana. When deputies arrived they located the marijuana, a small knife allegedly used by Daigle in the stabbing and physical evidence of a bloody struggle. The victim was treated for his injuries at St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling and released Tuesday. His chest wound was too shallow to reach the heart, LaGrange continued. Bond was set at $250,000 for each suspect by 29th Judicial District Judge Kirk Granier.
