BECNEL

LULING – Amelie Chapoton Becnel, 95, a native of Garyville and resident of Luling, died Jan. 5. She was the wife of the late Whitney Becnel and mother of Barbara Zeringue.
She was also the daughter of the late Fred Sr. and Pauline Naquin Chapoton and sister of the late Maude Roth and Malcolm, Milton, Alfred Jr. and Wallace Chapoton.
She is also survived by six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 8 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Luling, with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.

BOUDREAUX

PAULINA – Florette Millet Boudreaux, 88, a resident of Lutcher, died Jan. 5. She was the wife of the late Murphy Boudreaux and mother of Yvonne Jones.
She was also the sister of Daniel, Percy and the late Jessice Bourgeois, May DeGroff and Amelus “Buddy” and Bourgeois Millet.
She is also survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment in the church mausoleum.

CHIQUET

DENHAM SPRINGS – Fredrick Joseph Chiquet, 58, a native of Welcome and resident of Denham Springs, died Jan. 5. He was the husband of Cheryl Samson Chiquet for 33 years and father of Staci Smith and Scott and Cory Chiquet.
He was also the son of Mildred Landry Chiquet and the late Eddie Chiquet and brother of Linda Byrd, Pat Coleman and Charles “Chucky” and Paul Chiquet.
He is also survived by one grandchild.
Services were Jan. 8 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denham Springs, with interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge.

DAVIS

HAHNVILLE – Harvey Davis Sr., 75, a native and resident of Killona, died Jan. 3. He was the husband of Charlotte Joseph Davis and father of Lydia Cook, David and Harvey Davis Jr.
He was also the son of the late Victoria Johnson and Filmore Davis and brother of the late Evelyn Valentine, Ola Brown and Filmore Jr., Arthur Sr. and Stanley Davis Sr.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 8 in the chapel of Robottom Mortuary, Hahnville, with interment at Greenhill Cemetery, Taft.

FLETCHER

VACHERIE – Richard Fletcher Sr., 72, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Jan. 4. He was the husband of Ellen Fletcher and father of Laura Collins and Jeanette, Larry, Flemon, Kelvin, Carl and Richard Fletcher Jr.
He was also the son of the late James and Bertha Fletcher and brother of Corinne Lewis and the late Dolores Stacks, Velma Thomas, Ella Mae Hatty and Leona and Harold Fletcher Sr.
He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 9 at First Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.

GUIDRY

RESERVE – Leon “Pap” Guidry, 78, a native of Lions and resident of Reserve, died Jan. 5. He was the husband of Emily Chenet Guidry.
He was also the son of the late Edwin Sr. and Eva Graugnard Guidry and brother of Elmore “Inez” Montz, E.L. “Theresa” Hotard and Ann, Marion, James, Julien, Paul, Albert, Francis, John and the late E.J. Guidry Jr.
He was the retired owner-president of Guidry Distributing Co., an Army veteran of World War II, a member of VFW Post 5004, American Legion Post of Reserve, St. James Historical Society, River Road Historical Society and a fourth-degree member of Archbishop Blenk Assembly Knights of Columbus Msgr. Eyraud Council.
Services were Jan. 8 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.

NAQUIN

PAULINA – Ruth Pettit Naquin, 86, a native of Donaldsonville and resident of Paulina, died Jan. 5. She was the wife of Herman J. Naquin and mother of Pat Dicharry and Betty Jane Millet.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 8 at St. Joseph Church, Paulina, with interment at the church mausoleum.

RODDY

PAULINA – Kerman Joseph Roddy, 92, a native of Mathews and resident of Lutcher, died Jan. 7. He was the husband of the late Elsie Englade Roddy, and father of Patricia Deloach and Donald and McKay Roddy.
He was also the son of the late Yancy and Mary Bergeron Roddy and brother of Dorothy Roussel and the late Guy, Harry and Earl Roddy.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

STOCKMAN

EDGARD – Armster “Cosmo” Stockman, 33, a native of Edgard and resident of Metairie, died Jan. 3. He was the husband of Stephanie Battie Stockman and father of Shatira, Davon, Shakera, Treyvon and Alice Stockman.
He was also the son of Mary S. Adams, Bernard Growe and the late Jeff Adams and brother of Andrella Edwards, Katrina Lewis, Walter Webb, Vincent Dorest, Shelise Brown, Keona Walker, Lionel, Vincent and Kenyatie Adams and Lynette Stockman.
Services were Jan. 9 at Second African Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at Providence Memorial Park Cemetery, Metairie.

SUMLER

NEW ORLEANS – Lawrence Aristead Sumler, 85, a native of Paradis and resident of New Orleans for more than 20 years, died Jan. 4. He was the father of Kathleen Turner and Gail and Lawrence Sumler.
He was the first African-American student at the Bellevue School of Nursing in New York City.
Services are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at Providence Memorial Cemetery. Visitation starts at 10:30 a.m.

TAUZIER

CHALMETTE – Jeanne Martin Tauzier, 88, a native of Paulina and resident of Chalmette for 37 years, died Jan. 6. She was the wife of the late Martin Tauzier Sr. and mother of Diana Wolfe, Susan Mayley and Martin Tauzier Jr.
She was also the daughter of the late Jeanette Louque and Benjamin Martin and sister of Mildred Haley and the late Alton, Kermit, Clarence and Ruth Martin.
She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Services are today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of St. Bernard Funeral Home, Chalmette, with interment at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. Visitation starts at 9:30 a.m.

WEBER

LAPLACE – Daniel J. Weber Sr., 50, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Jan. 6. He was the father of Sonny Weber.
He was also the son of Dewey and Bernice Weber and brother of Paulette Hall and Wayne Weber. Services were Jan. 8 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
