LAPLACE – Christmas Day ended in gunfire and one arrest at one residence, according to the St. John Parish Sheriffs Office.
Capt. Michael Tregre reported that 9-1-1 dispatchers received two calls at noon Monday. One call was from Larry Baudoin, 38, of 1809 Williamsburg Drive, who reported a disturbance at his residence. The other was from his wife, calling from a neighbors house to say her husband shot her in the hand.
The 9-1-1 dispatcher told Baudoin to stand in front of his house and await deputies, which he did. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with domestic violence and attempted first-degree murder.
His wife, shot in her right hand, was transported by Acadian Ambulance to River Parishes Hospital. The bullet was found lodged in the couples TV, and the .25-caliber semiautomatic handgun was recovered as well.
Each told investigators they had been having marital problems and an argument turned physical. Each, however, said the other got the gun and the couple wrestled over it, which resulted in her being shot in the hand.
There were no witnesses, and the investigation is continuing.
Bond was set at $85,000 for Baudoin by 40th Judicial District Judge J. Sterling Snowdy.
