RESERVE – River Parishes Hospital will be holding a blood drive on Dec. 23from noon to 5 p.m. The Southeast Louisiana Blood Mobile will be locatedoutside of the hospital’s main entrance.
Currently the supply of blood at the center is low. The center needs to have350 units of blood on hand everyday in order to adequately supply the 40 hospitals it services.
During the holiday season, the center usually experiences a decline in donations because people are busy shopping for Christmas, taking vacations or spending time with their families. Unfortunately, the need for bloodincreases as accidents are more frequent since so many people are traveling.
Remember, anyone age 17 or older who is in good health and weighs at least 110 pounds can donate. There is no age limit and all blood pressuremedications are accepted. Donors must provide a picture identification cardin order to donate.
All donors will receive both a T-shirt and blood assurance coverage. Inaddition, anyone will be donating for their third time this year will also receive a lifesaver mug.
Christmas time is a time for giving and the most precious gift is the gift of life.
To schedule a donation time, call Tammy Waltz in the marketing department at 653-4247; walk-ins are also welcome.
Anyone who would like to donate but is unable to at this drive, may donate at the LaPlace Wal-Mart on Dec. 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Back to Top
