Man’s car stolen near Boutte store

BOUTTE – A Houston man unsuccessfully tried to prevent his car from beingstolen as he was using a pay phone Saturday night outside a conveniencestore in Boutte. No arrests have yet been made.While the 32-year-old man was using a pay phone in the 14100 block of U.S.Highway 90, two black males in a tan or gold Chevrolet Tahoe approached himat 9:35 p.m.One pulled a steel automatic handgun and pushed the victim toward theirvehicle. The victim suddenly grabbed the gun and began to wrestle with theman, causing the man to drop the gun.The second man got out of the Chevrolet with a small shotgun, and thevictim ran for the convenience store. The men made off with both cars,headed eastbound, and the stolen vehicle was later found on Adams Street inSt. Rose.
