Keller Family Reunion held

RESERVE – Relatives came from near and far to celebrate the Keller Family Reunion held recently. Over 250 descendents of Evariste Joseph Kellerparticipated in a three-day celebration uniting seven families of the Keller clan.
The event followed the Thanksgiving holiday with a reception and program held at the DuPont PERO Building in Reserve on Friday. Following the banquet,a program featured a reflection on the life of each family ancestor presented by a sibling of the participating families. Each family group wasintroduced by the presenter.
An award was presented to the oldest relative present Rodney Perrilloux.
Three families were honored for having four generations participating – Edith Keller Pidgeon, Wilfred Bernard Jr. and Rodney Perrilloux. Receiving an awardfor having the same name as a parent was Walter “Chris” Keller Jr.
Each family group received a souvenir book, put together by Gloria Desselle and Veronica Cambre, which included the family history and family tree of the family. The ancestors of Evariste Keller were his children – AnatoleKeller, with 195 living relatives; Marguerite Keller Perrilloux, with 177 living relatives; Frances Keller Bernard, with 109 living relatives; Walter Keller Sr.,with 50 living relatives; Adele Keller, with 50 living relatives; and Henry Keller, with 40 living relatives.
– for a total of 621 living relatives. Two siblings Ozemae and Francois Kellerhad no children.
On Saturday, an all-day picnic was held for family members to enjoy food, refreshments, games and for family group photos.
Sunday was the culmination of the reunion festivities. A mass was held atOur Lady of Grace Church, with Rev. Rodney Joseph as celebrant. After themass a brunch was held. Then everyone said farewell and headed for homeafter learning about their heritage and meeting their next-of-kin.
