Deputy injured during Norco chase

HAHNVILLE – A New Orleans man was jailed after trying to run over a St. Charles Parish deputy near the Bonnet Carre Spillway.

Lt. Dwayne LaGrange reported that a stolen vehicle call came into thesheriff’s office from a state trooper working on Airline Drive in the Norco area at about noon Nov. 18.The trooper reported the identification of a car, a 2000 Chrysler LeBaron reported stolen in New Orleans, which had turned off Airline onto Apple Street and onto Marino Drive.

Once on Marino Drive a deputy tried to stop the vehicle, but as he saw his danger he tried to get out of his vehicle, which was struck. His car doorslammed his left arm.

The deputy was taken to St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling, where hisinjured arm was treated, and he was released.

The trooper maintained pursuit and called for backup, and deputies located and stopped the vehicle on the Spillway Road headed toward Montz.

The driver, later identified as Terrell Malloy, 20, of 2437 Milan St., NewOrleans, was stopped at 12:18 p.m. before he could get out of the area.Three passengers tried to run but were quickly rounded up by deputies. Allwere New Orleans male juvenile, ages 12, 14 and 14. They were charged withpossession of stolen property valued at more than $20,000 and resisting arrest by flight.

Malloy was charged with hit-and-run driving and attempted murder of a police officer. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of 10-50 years forthe attempted murder charge and six months plus a $500 fine for hit-and- run driving.

Bond was set on Malloy at $750,000 by 29th Judicial District Judge Kirk Granier.
