Gymnasts fare well at meet

LAPLACE – Ivanov’s Gymnastics Academy of LaPlace had quite a successfulday at Gym Fest 2000 held in Baton Rouge Oct. 27-29.
The school’s Level 2 team came in first place in the team competition.
Team members included Karuna Nhem, Heather Cancienne, Paige Maurin,Grace Baker, Samantha Dufrene, Adrianne Cashio, Danielle Dugas, ShelbyThompson, Haley Jeandron, Sharie Mahler, Kimmi Fritz and Katie Breaux. Itwas the first meet for the team.
Kelly McCloskey swept the first place awards at Level 4. She placed firstin the all-around, placing first in the beam, floor, vault and bars.
Jessica Stonestreet also placed first in the all-around at Level 4. Sheplaced first on the beam, second on the floor and third on the bars.
Jamie Roussel was third in the all-around at Level 4. She also placed thirdon the beam.
Coti Roussel came in second on the bars at Level 4.
Stephanie Alves won the all-around at Level 6. She placed second on boththe bars and the beam.
Annie Marosits was third in the all-around at Level 6. She came in first onthe bars and third on the floor.
Ivanov’s competed in a meet this past weekend in Hattiesburg, Miss. Theschool will be competing in the Judges Holiday Classic in Baton Rouge Dec.15-17.
