The Second Annual Pirate Basketball Tournament will be held Thursday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Albert Cammon Middle Schoolgym.
Teams competing are Cammon, Hurst, Martin, Landry, West St. John,Godchaux, Garyville and Rummel. Games will be held 5-9 p.m. on Nov. 30 and 9a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 2. Admission is $2 for students and $3 for adults.Concessions will be available.

The Roberto Clemente All-Stars are now recruiting baseball players to participate in intensive six-day instructional camps to be held Dec. 26-31 inMiami and Phoenix.
The Arizona camp will be at the spring training home of the Chicago Cubs and the Florida camp will be at the former home of the USA National Team. Bothfacilities feature several major league fields, batting cages and clubhouses.
The staff will include major league scouts and college coaches from Florida, Arkansas, Wake Forest, Florida International, Alabama-Huntsville, Rutgers and Georgia.

The Junior Achievement Golf Sampler Card allows area golfers to drive the fairways at 12 of the local golf courses.
The Golf Sampler Card is $39 and entitles the cardholder to play a total of 49 rounds of golf among the participating courses – Audubon, Bayou Barriere, Colonial, Colonial Acres, Eastover, Ellendale, Lakewood, Oak Harbor, Ormond, Pinewood, Stonebridge and Timberlane. Supporters of the gold cardwill also receive a complimentary Junior Achievement golf towel. The card isvalid from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2000.Proceeds from the Golf Sampler Card benefit Junior Achievement’s K-12 in- school free enterprise programs. This year alone, Junior Achievement and its900 volunteers will teach more than 25,000 local students in over 140 schools about the relevance of education to the workplace and to prepare them for lifelong learning.

Special Olympics Louisiana’s new “Share the Victory” motor vehicle recycling program allows anyone in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Tammany and St. Charles parishes to turn extra or unwantedvehicles into “something special for Special Olympics.”An individual can call the “Share the Victory” toll-free number and Special Olympics will arrange to tow away their motor vehicle for free. The vehiclewill be recycled into the funds needed to support the year-round program of sports training and athletic competition for mentally-retarded children and adults in Louisiana.
Vehicles can be in any condition to qualify as long as the owner has the title.
Consumers may also be able to take advantage of a tax deduction as the fair market price of the vehicle is considered a tax deductible donation to Special Olympics.
