Registration for the annual Lenny Webster Baseball Clinic will be held today and Nov. 11 at the Arcuri Center on Cambridge Drive in LaPlacefrom 9 a.m. till 2 p.m.The clinic, for boys and girls ages 8-16, will take place Nov. 18, 2000, atRegala Park in Reserve, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost of the clinic is $20 per child and includes lunch, a T-shirt, an autograph session and the unique experience of being instructed by professional baseball players. Scheduled players for this year’s clinic are EricDavis of the St. Louis Cardinals, Trenidad Hubbard of the Baltimore Orioles,Marquis Grissom of the Milwaukee Brewers and Jeffery Hammonds of the Colorado Rockies, as well as several other Major Leaguers.

The 14th annual Roadrunner Bass Club Open Team Bass Tournament will be held tomorrow at the Bell River Public Landing, Spillway Side.

The tournament will run from safe light to 3 p.m. Any contestant notchecked in at the 3 p.m. weigh-in time will be disqualified.The entry fee is $50 per boat. There is also an optional $10 big bass fund. Alate fee of $10 will be charged to any team entering the tournament after 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3.Prize money is 75 percent payback awarded to the first five places. A 100percent payback will be awarded to the first two places of the big bass fund.

Only one award per stringer will be allowed.

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #15 will host its annual fund raising golf tournament at Fashion Golf and Country Club today.

The four-man scramble tournament is scheduled for 1 p.m., with a lunchbeing served at noon. Each $50 donation will provide one person with lunch,green fee, cart and two tickets for an annual dance to be held at 9 p.m. Holesponsorships are also available for $100.

All proceeds support the lodge, which benefits such things as Police Memorial Services, DWI Public Awareness programs, Louisiana Eastern Seals, Special Olympics Torch Run and assistance for distressed officers.

The Roberto Clemente All-Stars are now recruiting baseball players to participate in intensive six-day instructional camps to be held Dec. 26-31 inMiami and Phoenix.

The Arizona camp will be at the spring training home of the Chicago Cubs and the Florida camp will be at the former home of the USA National Team. Bothfacilities feature several major league fields, batting cages and clubhouses.

The staff will include major league scouts and college coaches from Florida, Arkansas, Wake Forest, Florida International, Alabama-Huntsville, Rutgers and Georgia.

The Golf Sampler Card is $39 and entitles the cardholder to play a total of 49 rounds of golf among the participating courses – Audubon, Bayou Barriere, Colonial, Colonial Acres, Eastover, Ellendale, Lakewood, Oak Harbor, Ormond, Pinewood, Stonebridge and Timberlane. Supporters of the gold cardwill also receive a complimentary Junior Achievement golf towel. The card isvalid from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2000.Proceeds from the Golf Sampler Card benefit Junior Achievement’s K-12 in- school free enterprise programs. This year alone, Junior Achievement and its900 volunteers will teach more than 25,000 local students in over 140 schools about the relevance of education to the workplace and to prepare them for lifelong learning.

Special Olympics Louisiana’s new “Share the Victory” motor vehicle recycling program allows anyone in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Tammany and St. Charles parishes to turn extra or unwantedvehicles into “something special for Special Olympics.”An individual can call the “Share the Victory” toll-free number and Special Olympics will arrange to tow away their motor vehicle for free. The vehiclewill be recycled into the funds needed to support the year-round program of sports training and athletic competition for mentally-retarded children and adults in Louisiana.

Vehicles can be in any condition to qualify as long as the owner has the title.

Consumers may also be able to take advantage of a tax deduction as the fair market price of the vehicle is considered a tax deductible donation to Special Olympics.
