Landry teacher is tops in state

HAHNVILLE – A reading teacher at Eual J. Landry Middle School in Hahnvillehas been named Louisiana’s Middle School Teacher of the Year.
Barbara Forshag, a 22-year veteran teacher, received the award at a Department of Education Banquet Wednesday evening in Baton Rouge. Shewill receive $3,000 as part of the award.
Forshag has taught mostly in St. Charles Parish and beat out threeteachers from Evangeline, Iberia and Iberville parishes in the year-long process that included interviews and classroom observation.
Forshag runs a language laboratory for about 350 students in grades six through eight at Landry School.
The St. Charles School Board announced that a pep rally honoring Forshagwill be held Monday at Landry Middle School at 1:45 p.m.
