Hahnville clinches playoff berth

RESERVE – The Hahnville Lady Tigers will be in a familiar place in two weeks – the state volleyball tournament at the Ponchartrain Center in Kenner.

The Lady Tigers clinched their sixth-straight playoff appearance with a 15- 10, 15-6 victory over East St. John Thursday afternoon in the Lady Wildcatgym.

Hahnville improved to 19-10 overall and 2-1 in District 9-I, clinching at least second place. The Lady Tigers host Destrehan Tuesday afternoon in a battlefor first place in the district. A Destrehan victory gives the Lady Cats thedistrict title. A Hahnville victory would force a third match tiebreaker.East St. John finished its regular season at 10-12 overall and 0-4 in district.Elizabeth Landry had two aces for the Lady Tigers and ended the match with a block. Flora Brown had six kills. Bridgit Humphreys was the top defenderfor Hahnville.

East St. John was led by Qiana Ferdinand with three aces. Jennie DeBoweshad three kills and also provided top defense.
