BOUTTE – A 44-6 win over Brother Martin’s Crusaders gave Hahnville High a boost toward their target next week, as they host parish rival, Destrehan.
Dawan Landry rushed for two touchdowns and passed for two more, to Mark Young and Aaron Alexander, to pump up the points against the Crusaders.
Hahnville received the opening kickoff and, in an eight-play drive, burned up the field to the Crusader 39, from where Landry passed to Young for the walk-in score. Matt Cummins’ PAT made it 7-0 with 9:39 on the first quarterclock.
Brother Martin’s opening possession netted them a minus-eight yards, as they were shoved from their own 20 to their own 12 before punting to the HHS 44-yard line. However, this score was called back on aholding penalty and the Tigers settled for a 27-yard field goal with 3:08 left in the first quarter, to lead 10-0.

Even this, though, was not enough to allow Brother Martin to score, as three plays later, Mark Barnes intercepted in the end zone and gave possession back to Hahnville.

The Crusaders accepted the second half kickoff and launched their sole scoring drive, with quarterback Evan Trapani and running back Chris McElrath carrying the load.
A costly personal foul call on Hahnville pushed the ball down to the Tigers 19, from where Brother Martin’s Aubrey Marchand pulled in the Trapani pass for the score with 9:20 left in the third quarter. The PAT try was short, andHahnville led 23-6.
The Tigers rebounded from the sting when, on the fourth play after the kickoff, Dawan Landry stepped up the middle for a 61-yard touchdown run.
