Wildcats upset Neville

MONROE – Raydel Patterson scored on a 6-yard pass from Darwin Pittman in the fourth quarter, giving East St. John a 24-21 upset victory over 11th-ranked Neville Friday night.
East St. John improved to 5-2 on the season. Neville dropped its firstcontest after six straight wins.
East St. John had taken a 7-0 lead with 1:49 left in the first quarter on a 22-yard run by Chuckie Burl. Chance Blank added the extra point. Blank made it10-0 with 9:12 left in the first half with a 35-yard field goal.
Neville cut the deficit to 10-3 before halftime on a 17-yard field goal by Matt Morrow. Morrow added a 39-yard field goal with 8:30 left in the third quarterto make it 10-6.
East St. John increased its lead to 17-6 on a 13-yard touchdown pass fromPittman to Patterson with 5:50 remaining in the third quarter. Blank againadded the extra point.
Pittman finished the game with 164 yards passing on 14 completions in 25 attempts.
Neville pulled to within 17-14 on a 1-yard run by Robert Lane. Tim Abreycaught the pass for the two-point conversion. The Tigers went ahead, 21-17,in the fourth quarter on a 24-yard touchdown reception by Toby Zeigler.
East St. John returns to District 7-5A action next week at CentralLafourche. Neville travels to top-ranked West Monroe in District 2-5A play.
