LHS moves to 2-0 in district

LUTCHER – The Lutcher Bulldogs took another step toward the defense of their District 9-3A title with a 22-10 victory over E.D. White Friday night.Lutcher improved to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in District 9-3A. E.D. White fell to 4-3 overall and 0-1 in district. It was the fourth straight victory for theBulldogs over the Cardinals.
E.D. White took a 7-0 lead on its first possession of the game on a 68-yardtouchdown pass from Evan Matherne to Matt Matis. Justin Verrett added theextra point, giving the Cardinals the lead with 11:43 left in the first quarter.
Lutcher answered with a 5-yard touchdown run by Tyrone Martin. Martinadded the two-point conversion, giving the Bulldogs an 8-7 lead at the five minute mark of the opening quarter.
Verrett regained the lead for the Cardinals at 10-8 with a 22-yard field goal with 11:21 remaining in the second quarter. Lutcher again came back, withRisley St. Germain finding Corey Bourgeois from 27 yards out. T.J. Bourgeoisadded the extra point, making it 15-10 with 6:55 left in the half.
St. Germain found Leigh Veron from 5 yards out in the third quarter.Bourgeois’ extra point built the lead to 22-10 with 7:55 left in the third quarter.
Lutcher travels to Covington next week. E.D. White returns home to play St.James.
