As the presidential election rolls around once again, we are all faced with the decision of casting a vote for whom we think will do the best job of leading our country.
Having turned 18 just last month, I too will have the privilege of casting a vote in the upcoming election. With this in mind, I thought it might be wise to watch thedebate between the Republican and Democratic candidates on television; it is always a good idea to be informed about who you are voting for, right? Well, I must admit, I did find myself to be a little disinterested in a large portion of the debate. The reason being, the majority of what they said was about money. Iwas a little confused by all of the figures.
However, what I did find quite interesting was the group of people who spoke after the debate! They were the “undecided” group. I was amused by some of theirresponses toward the debate.
When asked, afterwards, what their opinions were, they talked a lot about appearances, eloquent speech and composure. They mentioned very little about thefacts. I got the impression that many of them would end up voting for thecandidate with the best rehearsed speeches.
I did make a decision that night. It was that I would vote for the candidate who Ifeel will best represent me and the moral standards that I hold, not the one who is the best at tickling my ear. When the day comes for you to decide, I hope that youwill choose to do the same.
