CORTEZ

LAPLACE – Lovinia Rome Cortez, 88, a native of Kraemer and resident of LaPlace for 43 years, died Sept. 25. She was the mother of Vernice Blanks,Mary Chadwick and Paul Jr., Calvin, Clarence, Maurice, Richard and GilbertCortez.

She was also the sister of Emily Kraemer.

She is also survived by 32 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Services were Sept. 27 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, withinterment at St. John Memorial Gardens.

FABRE

DESTREHAN – Lois Schexnaydre Fabre, 74, a native of New Sarpy and resident of St. Rose for eight years, died Sept. 26. She was the former wifeof Emile J. Fabre and the late Edmond J. Troxclair Sr. and mother of LoisAdams-Spiehler and Edmond Troxclair Jr.

She was also the daughter of the late Timothy and Lena Schexnaydre and sister of Joy Millet, Russell Schexnaydre and the late Lola LaBorde and Neal Schexnaydre.

She is also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were Sept. 28 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan,with interment at the church mausoleum.

LANDRY

NORCO – Lionel Joseph Landry, 95, a native of Convent and resident of Norco, died Sept. 25. He was the husband of Odelia Webre Landry and father of EvePollet, Leona Loupe, Doris Rizzuto and Patrick, Avis and the late Jeril, Lionel Jr. and Louis Landry.He was also the brother of the late Olive Lejeune, Agnes Guidry, Louis, Clay and Edward Landry.

He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were Sept. 28 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco,with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan.

LOVETRO

NORCO – Lucy Brettillo Lovetro, 90, a native of Bayou Goula and resident of Norco for 70 years, died Sept. 25. She was the wife of the late CarmelLovetro Sr. and mother of Carmel Jr. and the late Kenneth and RobertLovetro.

She was also the sister of Anna Mae Peccarro, Angelo Brettillo and the late Genevieve Bonura, Pearl Rebowe, Josephine Destefano, Congetta Cangelosi, Felecia Peccarro and Joe, Vincent and John Brettillo.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services were Sept. 27 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco,with interment at Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans.

NOSACKA

GRAMERCY – Stephen Anthony Nosacka, 71, a resident of Gramercy for 45 years, died Sept. 26. He was the husband of 50 years of Martha Sile Nosackaand father of Catherine Manuel and Susan, Steven, Thomas, Mark James, John and David Nosacka.

He was also the son of the late Stephen and Josephine Povolny Nosacka and brother of the late Theresa Lewis and Raymond Nosacka.

He is also survived by 20 grandchildren.

Services were Sept. 29 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gramercy, withinterment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.

ROTAN

LAPLACE – Charles F. Rotan, 37, a native of St. Louis, Mo., and resident ofLaPlace for 10 years, died Sept. 24. He was the stepson of Jane Rotan,brother of Stephanie Fisssell, Carol Flannigan, Elaine Danner, Cheryl Young and Amy Rotan and grandson of Marge Rotan.

Memorial services were Sept. 29 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home,LaPlace.

ROTH

METAIRIE – Leona Vicknair Roth, 78, a native of Reserve and resident of Jefferson for 40 years, died Sept. 26. She was the wife of the late William F.Roth Jr. and mother of the late Joseph L. Bremermann.She was also the daughter of the late Maxie and Leonide Vicknair and sister of Inez Emmons and Joseph “Maxie” and Claude Vicknair.

Services were Sept. 29 in the chapel of Lamana-Panno-Fallo Funeral Home,Metairie, with interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

SMITH

LUTCHER – Sophia Watson Smith, 96, a native of Geismar and resident of Lutcher, died Sept. 28. She was the wife of the late Frank Smith Sr. andmother of Eunice Kirklin and Ernest “Tweed” Sr. and Frank Smith Jr.She was also the daugther of the late Handy Sr. and Julia Murphy Watson andsister of the late Charlotte Washington, Henry Carey and Clara, Henrietta, Handy Jr., Frank and Shermon Watson.She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at King Solomon Baptist Church, Lutcher, withinterment at Golden Wreath Cemetery, Lutcher. Visitation starts at 9:30a.m.
