Lady Eagles rally by Bethany

RESERVE – Reserve Christian rallied from a 14-11 deficit in the second game to sweep Bethany, 15-8, 16-14, Thursday afternoon.
Reserve Christian improved to 2-4 on the season with the win. Bethanyfell to 3-3.
Bethany had bounced back from an 8-1 deficit to take the 14-11 lead. Aservice error broke the Lady Lions’ serve and Summer Vicknair cut the deficit to 14-12 with a downball to the back row. After a service break,Angie Tucker made a save on the left side and Vicknair delivered a downball to the back row to break the Lady Lions’ serve. Dunia Medinafollowed with a kill to bring the Lady Eagles to within one. AmberSchlesinger then delivered a spike that was returned into the net, tying the game at 14.
Julianne Brasette had a block and a kill to break the next two Reserve Christian serves. Schlesinger gave the Lady Eagles possession back with akill, then delivered a block to give the Lady Eagles the lead. A serve later,Renee Delaneuville delivered a kill to the back row for the match winner.
“We executed effectively,” Reserve Christian coach Mike Marix said. “Itold the team that if we win the serve-receive category, we would win the game. We had good first hits and that set up great sets and great hits.We won in that category and it showed on the scoreboard.
“We were more vocal today. They were more comfortable about where theywere at. Those two things did it for us – we had good first hits and wewere more vocal.”Reserve Christian jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the second game. A dink bySchlesinger and an ace by Vicknair made it 3-0. A lob by Vicknair and anace by Mary Venus built the lead to 6-0. Bethany got on the board with anace by Rachel Normand before Vicknair answered with another lob to make it 8-1.
Bethany started to rally on its next serve. A kill by Brasette and an ace byJamie Munson helped cut the deficit to 8-6. A dink by Brasette and a killby Sarah Bickham brought the Lady Lions to within one. After a timeout byReserve Christian, two errors by the Lady Eagles gave Bethany a 10-9 lead.
Schlesinger tied the game at 10 on a kill but Normand came back with a dink to make it 12-10. A dink by Vicknair was answered with a kill byMunson and an ace by Normand, giving the Lady Lions a 14-11 advantage.
Bethany opened the match with a 5-0 run behind four Lady Eagle errors and an ace by Munson. Reserve Christian rallied on its next serve, pulling towithin 5-3 behind a kill and a downball by Schlesinger an ace by Delaneuville. Two serves later, a dink by Medina, an ace by Tucker and fourBethany errors gave the Lady Eagles a 10-6 lead.
Schlesinger served two straight aces on the next serve to make it 13-6.
Medina followed two serves later with another ace for a six-point lead.
The Lady Eagles would get the game winner on an error by the Lady Lions.
Schlesinger led the Lady Eagles with four kills, two dinks and two aces.
Delaneuville also had four kills. Medina provided top defense for the LadyEagles.
Bethany was led by Normand with two aces and Brasette with two kills.
Munson provided top defense.
