DHS opens Robicheaux era against Tigers

DESTREHAN – The Destrehan Wildcats enter a new era Friday night.
Stephen Robicheaux has been an assistant coach for the Wildcats for the past nine years. But when the Wildcats play at Slidell, he will be the manin charge for the first time after taking over for Scott Martin.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.Destrehan is coming off a 24-0 victory against West St. John in the RiverParishes Jamboree. The Wildcats showed off a balance attack in gaining242 yards in offense. Randy Roth and Daniel Luquet combined to pass for128 yards. The Wildcats ran for 114 yards, led by Dechad Ward with 10carries for 87 yards and two touchdowns.
The Destrehan defense was its usual stingy self, allowing just 87 yards, 31 on the ground, and three first downs to the Rams.
Destrehan will be playing a Slidell team that may be one of the most improved in the area after a 2-8 record last season. The Tigers return 14starters on offense and defense. The strength of the team will be anoffense led by running backs Sammy Fazzio, Jeremy Pilgreen and Gary Bauer. Quarterback Billy Moody will look to throw to receiver JaredRaffray and tight end David Petty. The line is led by senior center BryantEstes.
The strength of the defense is the front seven led by defensive tackle K.K.Green and linebackers Keith Underwood and Bryan Forte.
Last year, Destrehan dominated in a 21-0 victory to start the season. TheWildcats gained 319 yards while holding the Tigers to 82 yards.
Destrehan hosts Douglass next Friday night while Slidell is home again against Bonnabel.
