Gramercy place second at city meet

BATON ROUGE – The Gramercy Swim Team scored 2,331 points to finish second at the Baton Rouge City Swimming Championships held last week at the LSU Natatorium.
Magnolia Woods was first with 3,156 points. Tara took third with 2,282.25points, followed by Aquatic Club of Baton Rouge with 2,158.
Gramercy’s Brooke Roussel placed first in the girls’ 6 and under 25-yard freestyle USS Swimming competition, finishing in 26.14 seconds. TeammateKylee Jackson was first in the summer division with a time of 22.54. Rousselwas also first in the backstroke in 27.64. Jackson was third in 30.33.The Gramercy “A” relay team was first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.99.Dane George was first in the boys’ 6 and under 25-yard backstroke USS Swimming division with a time of 31.37. The 100-yard freestyle relay teamcame in second with a time of 2:07.96.Jordyn Keller was first in the girls- 7-8 25-yard butterfly summer division in 19.92. Keller was also third in the freestyle in 17.65. Keri Zeringue won the25-yard backstroke in the USS Swimming division in 21.90. Zeringue alsotook second in the breaststroke in 23.69. The Gramercy 100-yard relayteam was third in the 8 and under medley in USS Swimming in 1:29.15. Holden Bourgeois was third in the boys’ 7-8 25-yard USS Swimming backstroke in 22.75. Bourgeois was also third in the butterfly in 22.82.Mason Duhe was second in breaststroke in 25.84, followed by teammateDustin St. Pierre in 25.94. Brittan George won the backstroke title in thesummer division title in 21.48. The 7-8 100-yard freestyle team was second with a time of 1:17.44 whilethe 8 and under 100-yard medley team was second in `1:28.36.
ST. JAMES SPLITS AT TOURNAMENT – PLAQUEMINE – St. James took thefirst two games at the Cal Ripken 9-year-old Southwest Regional tournament in Plaquemine last weekend before dropping two Sunday and Monday.
Saturday, St. James defeated Meridian, Miss., 11-0, scoring eight runs in thebottom of the fifth. Grant Laurent got the victory and added a single at theplate. R.J. Jackson had a single and two runs batted in while Jordan Hymel,Shane Naquin and Blake Rom also had hits.
St. James defeated Springdale, Ark., 13-3, Friday. Jordan Hymel got thevictory. R.J. Jackson led the offense with two doubles.Late Sunday night, Plantation Athletic Club defeated St. James, 7-1. JordanRittiner got the win while Hymel took the loss. Josh Aikman and Brett Louphad singles for St. James while Beau Mothe had a double and two RBIs forPlantation.
Jonesboro blanked St. James, 10-0, Monday. Dustin Jones pitched theshutout with Cory Poche taking the loss. Reggie Jackson and Josh Allemansingled for St. James while Jacob Walls had three hits, including a double, andthree RBIs for Jonesboro.
Little Rock, Ark., and the Plantation Athletic Club met for the regionalchampionship.
