LABAT MARRERO – Ray Joseph Labat, 73, a native of Vacherie and resident of Westwego, died July 30. He was the husband of Rowena Hymel Labat andfather of Donna Petrie and Gregory, Jeffrey and Kim Labat.

He was also the son of the late Richard and Selma Falgoust Labat and brother of May Simon, Dudley and Lester Labat and the late Alice Becnel and Ikay, Rumsey, Sidney and Claude Labat.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services are today at noon in the chapel of Westside Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at Westlawn Cemetery, Gretna. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

ST. PIERREMETAIRIE – Rodney Paul St. Pierre Sr., 70, a native of Lucy and resident ofMetairie for 43 years, died July 30. He was the husband of Betty D. St.Pierre and father of Anita Robinson, Lois St. Pierre and the late Rodney St.Pierre Jr.

He was also the son of the late Roger Sr. and Annette St. Pierre and brotherof Roger St. Pierre Jr.He is also survived by one grandchild.

Services were July 31 at St. Christopher the Martyr Catholic Church,Metairie, with interment at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.

SMITH LUTCHER – Edward Smith Sr., 69, a native of Gonzales and resident ofLutcher, died July 22. He was the father of Joyce Dear and Eula Smith.He was also the brother of Doretha Williams, Jessie Mae Jacque, McKinley, Wilbert, Charles and Clarence Smith and Eugene and Allen Stalk.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were July 31 at King David Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at Golden Wreath Cemetery, Lutcher.

STIRGUS LAPLACE – Florence Stirgus, 78, a native of Woodville, Miss., and resident ofLaPlace, died July 26. She was the mother of Dianne Runners, Patricia James,Linda Pack and the late Doris Palmer.

She was also the daughter of the late Robert and Fannie Stirgus and sister of Rosalie Sterling, Beatrice Bazile and the late Sarah Keller and Percy, Nathaniel, Merdock and Robert Stirgus.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 1 at Providence Baptist Church No. 1, LaPlace, withinterment at Providence Rest Haven Cemetery, LaPlace.

VICKNAIR LAPLACE – Rita Jacob Vicknair, 66, a native and resident of LaPlace, died July 30. She was the wife of Lesley “L.A.” Vicknair and mother of Donna Caronna,Leslie Granier and Bryan Vicknair.

She was aso the daughter of the late Moon and Ada Jacob and sister of Ruth Duhe, Anabel Vicknair and the late Marguerite Maggio.

She is also survived by five grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace,with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 8a.m.

ZERINGUE HARVEY – Jean Baptiste Roger Zeringue, 75, a native of St. James andresident of New Orleans for 48 years, died July 31. He was the husband ofMary Panepinto Zeringue and father of Karen Villareal, Janice Kornman, Maria LeCompte, Roseanne Browne, Mary Walker and Monica, Susan and Roger Zeringue Sr.

He was also the brother of Wallis Jr., Francis, Etienne, Victorine and CecilZeringue.

He is also survived by 16 grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, Harvey,with interment at Westlawn Cemetery, Gretna. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
