NORTH PLAINS, Ore. – Brett Bergeron of LaPlace had a 13-over par 85 in theopening round of the U.S. Junior Amateur Monday at the par 72 Witch HollowCourse at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course.

Jay Choi of Cerritos, Calif. took the first round lead with a 6-under par 66.Luke List of Jasper, Ga. was a shot back. Stroke play concluded Tuesday. The field was then narrowed down to the top64 with six rounds of match play beginning today. The 18-hole match play willbe played Saturday.
