Hahnville High School head basketball coach Alvin Gauthier is conducting a basketball camp starting Monday at the school.
The camp will run daily through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is$75 per camper. The camp will feature NBA stars Jaren Jackson of the SanAntonio Spurs and Ervin Johnson of the Milwaukee Bucks as well as a scheduled speaker every day. For more information contact Gauthier at758-7537.
Lutcher High School will hold its annual football camp for ages 7-13 at the school Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.The camp is the oldest football camp in the River Parishes. The fee is $40and will include instructions at all positions, camp T-shirt, Iron Boy contest, touch games, punt, pass and kick, chalk talk, films, flexibility exercises, etc.
Registration will be held Monday at the Dogs’ Den from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The St. Charles Catholic Comets Football Camp for ages 7-13 willbe held at the school Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. till noon.The cost of the camp is $50. Registration will be held Monday from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. in the SCC CometPlex.The camp includes instruction at all positions, weight lifting, camp T- shirt, highlight films, Iron Boy contest, touch football games, skill tests, races and punt, pass and kick contests.

The Destrehan Fighting Wildcats Football Camp will be held at the school for ages 7-14 Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.Instruction will be provided at all postitions by the Destrehan coaching staff. The 2000 Millennium Basketball Camp will be held at West St. JohnMonday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.The camp is conducted by Brian Lumar, Loyola’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder and the coach the 1997 and 2000 state champion Shaw Eagles. Lumar also is the coach the drilling experts Shaw Dribblers and theAAU Louisiana Jammers.
The camp includes divisions for boys and girls ages 6 to 15. All camperswill be taught, observed and corrected in all phases of basketball. Thecampers will be grouped according to age, gender and talent level.
Activities include practice sessions, 3-on-3 tournaments, 5-on-5 games and various shooting contests. Each camper will also receive their ownofficial Millennium basketball.
The cost of the camp is $75 if pre-registered and $85 for Monday walk- ups.

The Riverside Academy Alumni Flag Football game will be held Aug. 17 following the Riverside-Archbishop Hannan scrimmage whichstarts at 6 p.m. AAU will conduct baseball and softball evaluations at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Aug. 12-13.The camps are designed to aid and educate the athletes and their parents on how to better their chances of playing baseball ot softball at the pro or collegiate level. The camps will be conducted by college coaches and proscouts.
Each athlete will receive a written evaluation and a seminar that will explain methods on how to be seen, academic requirements and other topics. Each athlete’s evaluation will be put into a catalog and sent to allcollege coaches and pro organizations.

The Junior Achievement Golf Sampler Card allows area golfers to drive the fairways at 12 of the local golf courses.
The Golf Sampler Card is $39 and entitles the cardholder to play a total of 49 rounds of golf among the participating courses – Audubon, Bayou Barriere, Colonial, Colonial Acres, Eastover, Ellendale, Lakewood, Oak Harbor, Ormond, Pinewood, Stonebridge and Timberlane. Supporters of thegold card will also receive a complimentary Junior Achievement golf towel. The card is valid from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2000.Proceeds from the Golf Sampler Card benefit Junior Achievement’s K-12 in-school free enterprise programs. This year alone, Junior Achievementand its 900 volunteers will teach more than 25,000 local students in over 140 schools about the relevance of education to the workplace and to prepare them for lifelong learning.

Special Olympics Louisiana’s new “Share the Victory” motor vehicle recycling program allows anyone in Orleans, Jefferson, St.
Bernard, St. Tammany and St. Charles parishes to turn extra or unwantedvehicles into “something special for Special Olympics.”An individual can call the “Share the Victory” toll-free number and Special Olympics will arrange to tow away their motor vehicle for free.
The vehicle will be recycled into the funds needed to support the year- round program of sports training and athletic competition for mentally- retarded children and adults in Louisiana.
Vehicles can be in any condition to qualify as long as the owner has the title. Consumers may also be able to take advantage of a tax deduction asthe fair market price of the vehicle is considered a tax deductible donation to Special Olympics.
