LULING – Anyone seen a pitching machine? This week, St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation Director Larry Matson, while doing inventory in preparation for the all-star season and especially the state tournament starting July 21, discovered the loss of a lot of new equipment.
This included two cases of leather-covered baseballs, 240 total, a new pitching machine still in the original box and 360 rubber balls used with the pitching machine.
Altogether, the equipment was valued at $1,600, mostly the pitching machine.
Matson commented it might be hard for a thief to fence the stolen equipment and hoped someone will know something about the theft and call the sheriff’s office.
“We ordered some new ones, so we’ll be OK,” Matson added. The itemswere discovered missing during inventory, so he isn’t precisely sure when the theft occurred.
“We felt pretty violated,” said Matson.
