Champagne, Oubre being sworn in

HAHNVILLE – St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg C. Champagne will beinaugurated for his second term of office at ceremonies Friday at 2 p.m. inthe St. Charles Parish council chambers of the courthouse.Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Edward A. Dufresne Jr. will performthe swearing-in for Champagne.

A brief reception will immediately follow in the conference room of the sheriff’s office on the third floor.

This will be preceded at noon Friday of the swearing-in of Clerk of Court Charles Oubre Jr. to his fifth term of office, along with his deputy clerks,in the main courtroom of the parish courthouse, conducted by 29th Judicial District Judge Robert Chaisson.

Assessor Clyde “Rock” Gisclair, re-elected last fall, won’t be inaugurated into his next term of office until January 2001 because of how the tax year runs, according to a spokesman. He has served for the past 28 yearsas parish assessor.
