Bergeron eighth at Southern Juniors

NAVARRE, Fla. – Brett Bergeron of LaPlace prepared for one of the biggestevents of his career with an eighth-place finish at the Pizza Hut Southern Juniors Championship this weekend at The Club at Hidden Creek.
Bergeron, a junior to be at Riverside, finished with a 10-over par 226. Hehad rounds of 77, 75 and 74 in tying for third in the 15-16 age group.
Clint Cromwell of Savannah, Tenn. won the tournament with a 4-under par212. Cromwell had rounds of 73, 70 and 69. Brett Blondell of Lakeland, Fla.was first in the 15-16 age group with a 2-under 214 that included rounds of 71-71-72.
Bergeron is at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette this week at qualifying for the USGA Junior Amateur.
The U.S. Junior Amateur will be held July 31 to Aug. 5 at Pumpkin RidgeGolf Course in North Plains, Ore.
