St. James holds off Lutcher

LUTCHER – Seth Folse pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh as St. James held off Lutcher, 5-3, Thursday afternoon.Lutcher loaded the bases with one out as Tyler Murray singled, Cory Bourgeois doubled and Keith Hymel was hit by a pitch. But Folse came backto get Dustin Deslattes to pop up to first and Risley St. Germain to fly outto right to preserve the victory.
St. James jumped out to a 3-0 lead against Lutcher starter Ryan St.Germain in the second as Folse doubled, E. Morton and David Johnsonsingled and Chris Hymel reached on an error.
Lutcher made it 3-1 in the third. Bourgeois walked, Hymel singled andDeslattes reached on an error to bring in the run.
Lutcher tied the game in the fourth as St. Germain singled and MattRoussel walked. After both runners moved up on a passed ball, both scoredon a single by Craig Brignac.
St. James took the lead for good in the fifth as Folse walked, Morton andJohnson singled and Hymel reached on an error.
All-State Insurance 7, Otto Candies 5
BOUTTE – Allstate Insurance jumped out to a 7-2 lead and held off a sixth- inning rally by Otto Candies for a 7-5 victory in Second District play Wednesday afternoon.
Allstate, an Archbishop Hannan-based team, improved to 6-4 overall and 6-2 in district play. Otto Candies fell to 3-5 both overall and in district.Ronnie Petit took the loss to fall to 1-1 on the season. Matt Caire led thehitting for Otto Candies by going 2-for-3.
