In the past month I have been to three graduations. I find them so amusing -parents crying, seniors cheering and the rest of the audience just being bored to death.

Although I don’t graduate until next year, this past week has got me thinking a lot more about my future and all that I want to pursue. A lot of questions came tomind as far as college and where I’d like to go. It doesn’t make it any easier thateveryone seems to have an opinion of what would be best for me.

Thinking about my future can be so confusing. Failure is probably my biggest fear.In high school I am so sheltered and have a sense of security always being surrounded by familiar people. Once that is gone I will be out on my own, faced withthe hard truth that the world is not as friendly as my family and friends.

But in so many ways the future fascinates me. For instance, I can’t wait to get outof my house. Don’t get me wrong, I have it great over here. I am very well takencare of by my parents. But the idea that as early as next year I could go andbecome a whole new person with a whole new life is so appealing to me. I reallycan’t wait to go to college and discover everything out for myself. I know that itwill be hard coming from such a small school and being so sheltered, but to me, it makes it all the more fun.

My parents know I will become a success. I think all parents think the sameof their kids. But I know that I will be a success because of what God promises inJeremiah 29:11.”For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plansto prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”Although I may never fully understand all the plans that God has for me, I know that they are awesome plans and that my life will be effective if I allow God to have free reign in me.
