Woman survives knife attack

LULING – A 58-year-old woman survived an attempted murder Tuesday night and is recovering from the knife wound in her neck.
Howard L. Tucker III, 31, 1218 Paul Fredrick St., Luling, was charged withattempted murder and is being held at the St. Charles Parish CorrectionalCenter in lieu of a $1 million bond, set by 29th Judicial District Judge Robert Chaisson.
Capt. Patrick Yoes reported that Tucker and Donna Bonona, his live-incompanion, got into a fight Tuesday in their home at 9:50 p.m. He beganwith punching her several times, which escalated into choking her.
Yoes continued that Tucker then shoved her into a bedroom, retrieved a hunting knife from a drawer and slashed her throat, causing a heavily- bleeding wound.
Neighbors called 9-1-1 and deputies poured into the neighborhood to discover Bonona, still-bleeding, who was transported first to nearby St.
Charles Parish Hospital, then to Charity Hospital in New Orleans.
Tucker was still on the scene when deputies arrived, and the weapon was recovered, still bloody.
