HAHNVILLE – Hahnville High School held its annual commencement exercises May 26 at the John A. Alario Sr. Event Center in Westwego.Joslyn Zoe Duhe led the Class of 2000 as valedictorian. The daughter ofCharles and Patricia Duet of Luling, she has held her class’s number-one rank since her freshman year.

Joslyn was a four-year member of the Beta Club and a three-year National Honor Society member. She was also a four-year recipient of Who’s WhoAmong American High School Students as well as a four-time recipient of the Union Carbide Academic Excellence Award.

She was a cheerleader for four years, serving as first co-captain in her senior year. She was also captain of the swim team, member of the StudentCouncil (lately as senior class president), member of the Homecoming Court and voted most talented, most likely to succeed and best dressed.

Her plans are to pursue art studies by majoring in graphic design and minoring in painting and drawing at Louisiana State University. Her dream isto gain an art-related position for the Walt Disney Company,.

The Class of 2000 has two salutatorians this year – Benjamin Caire and Lauren Campo.

Benjamin is the son of Randy and Debbie Caire of Luling. He was in the HHSMarching Band for four years and last fall was drum captain. He has alsobeen in the Symphonic Band for three years and this year was the timpanist for the All-State Orchestra. He was also in the HHS Jazz Ensemble.He was a four-year tennis letterman and two-year all-District tennis player, qualifying for the state tournament. He was also a member of the Beta Cluband National Honor Society, competed in State Literary Rally.

His future plans include majoring in chemical engineering at Louisiana State University and pursuing an engineering career.

Lauren is the daughter of Keith and Sonia Campo of Luling. She wassecretary for the Student Council, Beta Club and National Honor Society and member of the Symphonic Band and Marching Band. She was chosen this yearas Student of the Year.

Her plans include majoring in communications at Loyola University in New Orleans and pursuing a career in print journalism.

Rounding out the Top Ten in the Class of 2000 are Jaclyn Witmer, Jamie Ledet, Tiffany Rainer, Teresa Dean, Lisa Spitz, Robyn Growl and Micah Stewart.
