Watkins leaves Yellowjackets

ATLANTA – East St. John graduate Kerry Watkins has left the Georgia Techfootball team for personal reasons.
Watkins enjoyed a standout redshirt freshman season for the Yellowjackets in 1999, finishing third on the team with 34 catches for 504 yards and six touchdowns. He had six catches for 90 yards against Wake Forest in onegame.
Watkins had a stellar career for East St. John, setting a number of teamrecords before graduating in 1998. He signed with the Yellowjackets inFebruary of that season, choosing Georgia Tech over a number of schools including Michigan, Miami (Fla.) and Tulane.Watkins is the second top receiver the Yellowjackets have lost this season.
Junior Dez White applied for the NFl Draft and was selected in the third round by Chicago.
