Striders hosting USATF meet

DESTREHAN – The St. Charles Striders are hosting the USA Track and Field-Southern Association Championships Friday, May 26, and Saturday, May 27, at the Destrehan High School Track Field.

The meet is open to any male or female athlete residing in Louisiana or Mississippi who is a member of the Southern Association USATF for the year 2000.

Entry fees are $6 per individual and $6 per relay. The entry deadline isTuesday. All late entries are subjected to a $2 per person fee. Entriesreceived after the 48-hour limit will not be entered. Cashier’s checks ormoney orders are payable to the St. Charles Striders. Entry fees mustaccompany entry forms.

Division classifications are Bantam (those born in 1990 and later); Midget (1988-89); Youth (1986-87); Intermediate (1984-85); and Young Men/Women (1982-83). Proof of date is required. Athletes who are still 18years of age through the final day of the National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships shall be eligible to compete in Young Men/Young Women division. There will also be a special 19 plus or Master division.First through third place finishers will receive awards.

Track Events Track opens 7 a.m., first call at 7:30 a.m., start time at 8 a.m.1,500-meter racewalk finals for Bantam and Midget.

3,000-meter run finals for Midget, Youth and Intermediate boys and girls and Young Women.

100-meter dash semifinals for all divisions.

400-meter hurdles finals for Intermediate and Young Men/Women.

200-meter hurdles finals for Youth.

1,500-meter run finals for all divisions.

4X100-meter relay finals for all divisions.

3,000-meter racewalk finals for Youth, Intermediate, Young Men/Women, Open.

200-meter dash finals for all divisions.

800-meter run finals for all divisions.

110-meter hurdles finals for Intermediate boys, Young Men.

100-meter hurdles finals for Intermediate girls, Young Women, Youth.

80-meter hurdles finals for Midget.

400-meter dash finals for all divisions.

5,000-meter run finals for Young Men, Open.

4X800-meter run finals for Midget, Youth, Intermediate, Young Men/Women, Open.

100-meter dash finals for all divisions.

4X400-meter relay for all divisions.
