Riverside hosts awards program

RESERVE – Riverside Academy held its annual athletic awards program Monday night at the school.
The Rebels celebrated a year in which the golf team won the Class 2A state championship. The football, volleyball, girls’ basketball, softball and baseballteams advanced to the postseason with the softball team winning the District 9-2A championship.
Ronnie Mason was named the Male Athlete of the Year. Jennifer Guidry washonored as the Female Athlete of the Year. Guidry was also selected as theMost Valuable Player of the volleyball, girls’ basketball and girls’ track teams.
Nicole Lambert was the MVP of the softball team.
Craig Tearney was selected as the MVP of the boys’ basketball team. TheMVP of the baseball team was Sean Delaneuville. Richie Hymel, who set aschool record in the high jump, was the MVP of the boys’ track team. BrettBergeron, the Class 2A state golf champion, was the MVP of the golf team.
Casey Remondet was named Mr. Rebel, given to the MVP of the footballteam.
The Rinso Clement Dedication Award went to Joseph Trosclair. And theScholastic Award was awarded to Michael Schoen and Scott Poirrier.
