St. Joan of Arc hosting Frank Scorsone Classic

LAPLACE – St. Joan of Arc is holding the Frank Scorsone-St. Joan of Arc GolfClassic May 15 at Riverlands Country Club.

First tee time is 12 p.m. Only 36 teams will be registered so please RSVP assoon as possible by mailing your registration form. Donations and holesponsors are most welcomed. Aegis, Inc., The Medicine Shop and EdwardJones Investors will provided lunch and dinner. For more information pleasecontact Ron Troxler at 652-6777.

Scorsone served as a Eucharistic Minister and lector for many years at the 4:30 Mass at St. Joan of Arc. He was a hand-picked charter member of theSt. Joan of Arc Pastoral council. Scorsone was a member of Riverlands for almost 40 years. He was alwaysactive and served for many years on the non-paid board of directors. Hespearheaded many projects and raised money for equipment and improvements on the golf course. He instituted the present day cartregistration system at the club and was responsible for cart shed operations for many years.

Later, he was the founder of the “Turkeys,” a group of fellow golfers who played several times a week at the club. One of his pet projects wasorganizing the Riverlands Amateur Men’s Senior organization or “RAMS” as they are called. The group plays today and is some 75 members strong.
